SkiLLz
Well i just saw everyone posting the weight of they're bikes and i thought i'd check the weight of mine. It seems like everyone do things the minimal effort and wondered if my bike was abit to heavy to make it look effortless.
JonMack
Rim is about 410g Rear brake, no idea Front brake is around 240g + about 140g for the rotor. Cranks are about 590g including bash/sprocket Stem is about 225g Tyres are gonna be about 600-700g for front, and about 1.1-1.25kg for rear, plus tubes at about 150g each, and rim tape at about 50g for front and rear. If that front wheel is anything like my onza wheel it will be about 950g with the rotor. Your rear wheel will be about 900g-1kg too, not 500g! 500g is the weight of a decent rear rim! steve@banbury-trials
if you learn on a heavy bike then you'll will be a better rider in my opinion when you get a lighter one, plus lighter bike usually wont last as long as a hefty steed. my bikes are setup with strength and longevity in mind,i reckon my simtra must be around 12kg in weight if not more and i'll tell you something ,i havent changed a part in 4months or more because i've broken something from riding hard ,yeah im not a go big or go home type of rider but i am a bit rough on the landings like. so personally i would say i wouldnt worry about weight too much mate.well thats my little rant over lol, cheers ,steve Edited July 7, 2008 by banbury trials
basher
Well the forks weigh a ton and have horrible geo for a mod due to them being 26inch forks. Changeing them will make a big difference. Dont join the band wagon with everything deng. No need for a echo front rim there heavey and its mod so it will be strong, tryall will be better or even dob seeing as your running disk. I would go for a tryall rear rim aswell as its lighter but the echo will with stand dents alot better if your a basher but both will be fine for flat spotting ect due to it being a small rim on stock suffer from that problem really. Zoo hub isnt the best due to everything deng that is a moving part is pants and has been a complete flop. A viz hub is alot lighter and still strong. For the rear hub a tryall would be the best choice if you can aford as it will be lighter but if not then the viz should be good. Spokes are spokes especially on mod as the wheel builds are usually so strong. Please dont get the parts in youll so regret it because first off it will look shit and when your bored and relised its shit no one will buy the parts because there green. Stick with black and white and it will look sexual. Also get some riser bars.
SkiLLz
Well that answered a few questions basher thanks As for the green and white i was only going with them because i wanted a colour scheme and didn't want to buy new brakes. (my brakes are green). The brakes should look fine, as black and white are neutral colours really so the green brakes on there own should look pritty nice. You could though just strip the paint off them and polish them up or spray them black.
