Greetings
I want to find out how I stand with this before I contact Ryders. Here's a pic of my sunglasses, they were in the glove box in the car and when I took them out, they were cracked and had started peeling. The only reason I can find is the heat but surely it can't get that hot in a car? They were not in contact with any thinner of any sort. So what do you think could have caused this? I'm pretty gutted, they weren't cheap
AdamR28
So what do you think could have caused this? The fact that they are plastic, not carbon fibre! (You can see the pixellation on the fake carbon print on the first picture)

Tom_
Im going to take an un educated guess and say from looking at them that they are carbon... Looking at the cross section where its snapped I recon thats carbon.
AdamR28
I just had a closer look and there does seem to be some sort of strands in there, hmm... Don't understand why they would print fake carbon on top of real carbon though
Krisboats
I'd have to agree with adam, they do look more like plastic with a carbon print effect. Especially with the inside of the glasses not looking like carbon but more like plastic. Maybe plastic based and wrapped slightly in carbon? The effect doesn't look like carbon fibre though as adam said, carbon fibre looks a lot finer than that when viewed up close, not square and blocky. Simon
Having got genuine carbon fibre, that's 100% not carbon fibre. At least the top layer isn't. Ignoring the fact it's cracked...
Krisboats
If those are the traction glasses, then are made from duraflex nylon instead of carbon.
King C
I wouldnt have though it was heat, if they are real CF. Once the resin and hardener sets, heat wouldnt effect the strength Edited July 2, 2008 by kcchan
Extreme_biker0
Did you crash the car at all?
Wet Banana
I'm an engineer, and they are just not CF. A contact-adhesive is your best bet to fix them.

They aren't claimed to be by the manufacturer either. Contact adhesive won't fix the flaking lacquer/coating either.

Greetings
Yeah they're duraflex as mentioned above. Still, I wouldn't expect them to explode under heat
