MikeCottTrials
Rite guys im thinking of buying my first car but it really is going to be a cheap piece of s**t to be honest with you as i cant really afford more than 1000 at the moment and would prefer it to be less so i dont have to save much My question to you guys is what do you think is better in the cheap car range for reliability because obviously theres a very high risk any car i buy for the amount of money im thinking is gonna be quite bad Im thinking punto, peugeot 106 sort of car just to give an idea

c.j
you dont want to go too cheap, because then you'll have to buy something you will have to spend money on, e.g to get it through an mot. corsa's are good lil cars and the 1.0 are economical and quicker than the 1.2's you could probably get a tidy one for 1000? Joe_Elding
Try and get a fiesta, corsa or clio..
King C
The way I see it is, the cheaper it is now, the more expensive its going to be in the long run. Try get yourself a German car if you can.

I see what your saying but on the other hand i could be lucky and get a dodgy one that hangs on for ages if it made a year id be happy to chuck it lol
King C
To be honest, thats just the experience Ive/my families had. Thats why I suggested a German car, they will last and last and you should be able to pick one up quite cheap.
The Stig
http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/www/c...9/search.action i took it upon myself to find you some German look at the red 1.4 CL and the 1.0 Green down the page 750 mark so you have a bit of spare cash. P.S i stole a postcode from hull so might not be near you.....

Greetings
I always recommend CRXes because they're really reliable, cheap to run and so much fun. Not sure you'll get a decent one for 1 grand tough. I bought mine back in 2004 in the UK for 1250, it had 40k miles on the clock but frankly that was a bargain. Might have been because it was left hand drive? Edited July 1, 2008 by Inur

Greetings
Dunno what the insurance depends on in the UK but it's got a small 1.6 engine. I'd be surprised if it was expensive to insure.

Small 1.6? It's a 1.6VTEC in a 2 seater that weighs nothing They are seriously fast for what they are!
