Skoze
Off college for the summer now so thought i'd better get cracking. Wiring mess; Pro wiring-diagram, gonna leave the gay dash on for a bit then put the proper 80" dash i have on later; Bulkhead off; Mmmmmmmm, shiny (ignore the dent) Made a start with the red-oxide, still got a long way to go Feel like a man, having used almost nothing but the biggest hammer i could find to fix any problem. Getting the bulkhead off on your own with everything in situ is awkward.

Russian = simple, agricultural, and can be fixed with a rock and a turnip. All good qualitys in a small 4x4 if you ask me. Not quite sure what you mean by confused by long grass? They're actually extremely capable off road.

RobinJI
As a road car yeah, they road like a boat, went like a snail and had the kind of issues that annoy the general public who don't like getting their hand dirty. So they ended up with a bad reputation. However they are stupidly simple, came with a FULL tool kit from the factory, as well as a handbook that's more detailed than your average haynes manual, and are designed to be able to be kept going in the worst of conditions with the minimal spare parts. Plus like I said, apparently they're genuinely very good off road. PS, I'm not trying to sell them, I just don't think they deserve the reputation they've got amongst most people. Oh no i agree they're good of road except for wet grass, especially long wet grass, or just long grass, my dads liked to just eat it then explode quite regularily, he had 2 ladas, a samara and one of the above, both went pop eventually. RobinJI
Ahh... that makes sense, thought it sounded a little too specific to just be meant as a general insult. Never heard about that before. Keep meaning to get some pictures of a guy from my work experience's SJ for this thread. External cage, 1.7 isuzu TDI, Range rover axles. 'Tis rather nice. Quick nose on facebook came up trumps: Edited June 16, 2010 by RobinJI

Yer to be honest my micra has more off road ability on grass than that lada sometimes. was a little scary when lowering boats down slipways. If the ground was slippery it wasn't happening, even with all manor of a/t and r/t tyres. There so light.

I agree with the above statement to the point where i'd concider buying your jimny so you'd do it. (As i can't afford to insure a big old green thing aswell as a red small japanese thing.)
