markrat
Are they any good for the front with a 183mm rotor as im thinking of getting one. What are they like to maintain?
Alex@Flawless Bikes
I had one and it was really good very powerful and felt really nice. One problem was i was out riding one day and the whole thing blow up and leaked fluid everywhere and sadly it never work properly again. Had to buy a bb7 which is much better to maintain. Chris Woodhouse
Yes the bb7 is made by avid, possibly one of the best mechanical brakes on the market I'd say, had a louise but changed it to an avid and it feels so much nicer but yes hope brakes are also very good but about three times the price and more difficult to maintain. austen
Hopes are amazing, and there NOT hard to maintain, if you buy a hope get a goodrige hose (metal braided hose, impossible to break ) fitted and it will hardly ever need to be maintained IMO, all it will need is a re - bleed and new pads every so often, but with avids the cable could snap something. Hopes are a lot more expensive than avids, but IMO its worth it.
