Tapping

I have been getting better with tape over the last week or two. But I strugle with anything shortish runup. I get the speed, tap, but its keeping it onto of the wall. Should I be hitting the wall harder and faster.

Here a lil vid from the other day. the walls about 2 inch over bar, which would have been my best tapp!! =[

Pointers would be lovely!!

I can't tap for shit, but from that slo-mo it would seem that you're not quite finishing your crank rotation early enough before hitting the wall, and could possibly get your weight ever so slightly more forward

Not 100% mind

Check out the TRA Guide to Godship and you'll soon be bashin' with the best of them

Its gay that youve slowed it down like that just as you tap. cant really tell what your prob is! but hit it a touch lower, n leave off that back brake totally. only lock it up when your back wheel lands on top. It drags just as you leave the ground and that has an effect

I dont really tap, but looking at ur vid id guess hit the wall lower down with your front wheel, and try not to "scoop" the bike back by throwing your body weight back.. the best tappers ive spoke to seem to all have got to a point where they realised that when you hit the wall, you aren't actually pulling back on the bars still whilst the wheel rolls up it. hit it low and don't bother pulling back so hard while its rolling up!

start with your strong foot higher and with a standing start, pedal constantly throughout crouching slightly over the front. Hit the front wheel a tad lower and jump your body a fraction before the bike gets shot up, let the bike come up under and slightly in front of you and only brake once the wheels up.

if you get it right the bike will end up with you directly over the rear wheel in a comfortable backhop position.

Its not looking too bad to be honest, you can tap a lot better than i can.

I'd just personally give it a bit more pace, at least then your body's got a little more forward momentum.

Jump mother f**ker. ;)

Looks like you're letting the tap do all the work rather than working WITH it.

I also reckon, as stated earlier, you want to finish your crank rotation about 6-8 inches shorter so you can get a last kick in as you jump up.

i also find it helps if you relax your legs more after youve hit the wall so you can tuck... when i make a 'decent' tap my ass ends up on the tire or next to it like a side-hop. also with your final kick give it some real beans... and yea your hitting it a lil too high and need to lean forward a tad more (like everyone else said)

:)
