dan_addison
Id go for the Stan Shaw apporach and drill everything. Headtube, BB and other places you can get away with and not interfier with the frames stregth. Preety sure itll void all warrentys though . Also id of thaught the maxxis welterwaight tube would puncture every 5 mins. If it was me I wouldnt be overlyy fussed about saving waeight with the back tyre and tube, nothing more anoyying than fixing punctures out on a ride. Other than that i love DOB frames good choice! EDIT: If you do decided to get the drill out, probaly worth getting it done probaly! Edited June 20, 2008 by dan_addison

cai
Brown nosing Trialtech there Get Monty tubes , theyre a tad lighter than the Walterweights - but mine have never let me down! Drill the sidewalls of rim? Square out the holes of rim? Cut off every other tread? Drill headtube? Drill what should be the seat post? - they're the least drastic things you could do to your bike with a drill and a file. EDIT: never mind with drilling the rims if they're cheese Edited June 20, 2008 by cai

basher
Well if you have the money then upgrades could be tryall cranks, trial tech bash, echo isis bb i think is lightest bb the internal one so if you have the internal not the external one keep it, get a better headset new hope one, tryall hubs fornt and back, welgo/echo/trialtech magnesium pedals form tarty. There the main things to upgrade, you could do spokes to trialtech spokes or just ask adam at tarty he should no which are lightest but still strong as you will be running disks. casualjoe
I've read Sapim CX-Ray are the lightest and strongest, been thinking about getting my wheels laced in them, £120 is a bit much though.

Bigman
You would be surprised how much rim tape weighs, the Echo/meta or whatever ones weigh between 30 - 50g a wheel! Alot of people, me included use wide clear parcel tape doubled over, works well and weighs around 4g per wheel I also would be very doubtfull of that calculated weight. TrAsHeR
Would help if you put the name of the part next to the weight. And what brake are you planning on using? I would go for maggies if you want to loose a bit of extra weight.
Greetings
You would be surprised how much rim tape weighs, the Echo/meta or whatever ones weigh between 30 - 50g a wheel! Yup, front and rear 26" tryall tape - 72g
JonMack
Yeah it's worth weighing up the components as you build the bike up because claimed weights aren't often 100% correct, especially with things like tyres. I've read all sorts of weights for Eagle Claws, some under 1k, some over. Also spokes aren't 50g. 32 262mm spokes are about 150g-200g, I know mods spokes are about 2/3rds of the weight but you're still talking about 250-300g for both wheels. Oh and what 73g grips you running?! Try all foams weigh about 20. Edited June 22, 2008 by Mark King

Rusevelt
A titanium bb axle would save a considerable amount of weight.
