JonMack
I may well be getting a Dob 2008, like Tarty Adams old bike, and was wondering what forks, bar, and stem people would recommend for this frame. I've currently got Onza carbon bars and a T-Master stem, but need new forks no matter what. Any help would be much appreciated.
Bearded Midget
monty/try-all bars (big risers) echo/try-all stem (or similar) and light forks (dob froks/ echo lites etc) otherwise your being racist to dob by having something heavy on it

Also what are Monty forks like? Edited June 16, 2008 by Mark King
Greetings
Definitely Rage/Montys. They feel perfect. You'll need a low rise stem for these bars, preferably 160x25, unless you like your bars high. As for the forks, anything from Deng or Monty 221Pr's. Monty's have a steel steerer which is a big advantage and yet the forks weigh under 900g if I remember correctly.
JonMack
Well if I get Monty B/S combo, would that be good? I'm 6ft spot on if that gives any idea as to what height stem I should be looking at?
Dave Anscombe
Ahhhhh well i love my monty 221 ti s/b combo...... but are the dobs like under 1000 wb? and you being 6 feet are going to need a stem with a fairly high rise .maybe a tmaster stem or somthing along those lines Dave
JonMack
Haha I got a T-Master stem at the mo and Onza Carbons, reckon I should just stick to that then?

Muel
I'd get rage bars over Monty TIs any day, they are wider but the bends pretty much the same. As for the stem, I use a TI and it's brilliant, but I run either 20 or 25mm of stacks underneath. I'd also look at the PR if I were you, my brother has one and it's really good. monkeyseemonkeydo
Off topic but I'm really confused by the Dob naming/years... Surely Adam's bike was an 06/07 one, not an 08? And there's an 07 one in the pics thread that looks like an 08 one and and and then there's the 08 Pro frames in there too... yeah. Someone explain it to me please?! Pictures would be good

Very confusing! Why couldn't the '08 Pro just be called the '09! Edited June 17, 2008 by Mark King

I was under the impression that the '07's were the new ones which were replacing what I now know to be the '08's... don't remember seeing any 07's before . My bad. Danny Kearns
Gu or Zoo forks Team or Hifi stem Gu riser bars or viz max bars.
JonMack
Gu or Zoo forks Team or Hifi stem Gu riser bars or viz max bars. Don't really wanna put on forks that weigh nearly 1kg considering the frame is only 1.3, but I'll think about the bar/stem situ. I hope you don't mind if I ask this Danny, but why do you love Deng products so much?

Muel
Well I also keep meaning to get rid of the TIs and get some Rages, but with my extenders in they are 2" wider than standard TIs, but the Rages are only about 1" wider than TIs. I dunnor, the extenders are working well so far, the width is perfect so I don't need to change really.
JonMack
I don't think the width is gonna bother me that much to be honest. Could always get some Trialtechs?
Muel
Yeh that's a point, get trialtechs. The Monty's really are short, really short. Depends how wide you're shoulders are though. I'll sell you mine? Then I can get some trialtechs.
