Sam Jones
Ministry of sound make good mp3's with great sound capabilities. the only problem is that they are expensive.
David20
I had a zen Chizz, was decent and it lasted me about 2 years. If I'm being honest though, I think my ipods far better.

BeNNy
Obviously you don't know where to find good downloads
nc7r
Pretty much all MP3 players will be of similar quality. The coding of the song (bitrate aswell as type; AAC, MP3 etc) impact much much more. I'd just go for an iPod Nano 8gb for £129 and use itunes to use Apple Lossless coding for it. Best way

Mark W
I think my Nano might be f**ked. When I try and put videos on it, even if I know they're encoded right ('cos other people can download the same ones from the same site and put them onto their Nanos fine), they say they can't be played on my iPod, and most videos I put on there seem to stop playing after 5 seconds, even if the whole file's on there and they play OK in iTunes... mr ailsbury
ipod classic 80gb, £169 best chunk of money i've ever spent to be quite honest! Didn't really have much luck with my old Creative xen, it lasted a fair while but I didn't really like how it felt/ran etc... I also have one of the new 4gb ipod nano's, which are really really good for the money, obviously get the 8gb one iff 80gb seems too big or whatever Edited June 15, 2008 by mr ailsbury

Hendrix
Just get a bigger iPod. But, be aware. 90% of downloads are .mp3 in todays standards, and mp3's have a very very very limited frequency range. If you listen on decent headphones, you will notice the difference between mp3 and wav or flc. If you do want something that produces decent quality mp3's which are crisp, clean and 3d, some of the Zen Players can be very good. If you listen on the meh in ear headphones - bigger iPod and you're sorted. Try to use wavs though! Will add - not all players accept wavs. So be careful there. I will also say - there's nothing wrong with mp3's, but they're just no good for me. Edited June 15, 2008 by Hendrix

Dr. Nick Riviera
1) Try to use wavs though! 2) there's nothing wrong with mp3's, but they're just no good for me. 1) No, not ever gtfo. 2) depends what for, .flac is pretty impractical for portable players and seeing as he's concerned about filling up 8gb, it just aint gonna happen. 3) yeah boiiiii

THe natural disadvantage with .wav is as it's uncompressed it takes up a lot more space (around 75-100x more IIRC) But yeah, surely it's obvious that if you want good quality music you should play uncompressed files. Failing that listen to everything on vinyl. As soon as you put music on a CD the waveform gets digitised which means frequency transitions arent as smooth, so try find a portable vinyl player or something and dont download any music. Hendrix
Flac's will run on most iPods if you set them up right, and flac's are smaller than MP3's
