Recommended Posts

hi!

I have dengura brake with Echo pads and smooth DOB rim on rear. I have ridden this set only 4 times and pads wear down 1mm each. :|

wtf is wrong?

There is also a bit of white powder on the rim (I gues it's from the pads)

Cheers, Demiourgos.

there to hard i had the same problem , just replace your pads with something better and you will be fine (Y)

If they were to hard they wouldnt ware down.Do you eman there to soft?

The echo pads are normally used on smooth rims or a really light grind.Maybe your grind is to harsh?

But the pads are not very good anyway get some diifferent ones.

Oh my god, why is everybody retarded.

If your running the echo pads on a smooth rim;

1. Its a crap brake unless your streety (streety as in Shrewers), but I'm guessing by your choice of rim that thats not the case... So this would point the answer towards changing brake set-up.

2. If they are wearing down 1mm a ride, chances are you got a dodgy set. The wear rate is bad, but not bad enough to wear that much on a smooth rim. Which would also point the answer towards changing brake set-up.

Answer - Get some proper pads. In any other circumstances I'd say get a grind, but with a DOB rim thats chucking money down the drain really.

Encase you didn't know - DOB rims have a reputation for grinding up badly and not holding the grind. Therefore meaning 'one' has to grind one's rim more often, therefore shortening the rim life because it'll be more prone to flat spotting, AAAnd the rim life for this particular type of rim is rather short regardless.

Edit: Classifying retardedness (and otherwise going in for the kill) in an attempt to avoid argument/repercussions -

there to hard...

Well, no. If you actually read the post, the problem is in them being too soft. Which, having used them, I can safely say they are.

Maybe your grind is to harsh?

Again, this is where all the reading practice you do at school comes in handy - it says 'smooth rim'

:- I've never felt a signature needed a quote (or a quote needed a sig), but this seems well worth it.

Get some decent pads e.g plazmatic. All the new echo,gu , zoo pads are shit.Imo. IeverybodysO
