Tom_
Right, Im 17 a week this friday. Despite the fact that I have been to a brace place twice in the last like 3 or so years, they always told me I dont need braces, despite my savagly messes up teeth. However every time i go to the dentist he refers me back to a brace place and tells me I really should get braces. In honesty my teeth are f**kED the bottom ones are like touching each other nearly with a tooth pushed behind them Im not a toothy smiley person so to be honest no one realllyyyy notices, But I do and it does annoy me. I would have to have a rear molar out, and wear braces for 18months I do belive, and allowing for a 3 month waiting list, by the time they come off Il be not too far off 19..... Now heres the thing, I dont wana sound like a complete arrogant penis but at most partys I go to I do tend to get with a gir after a few drinks and massive of poor chatting up on my part, in fairness normally Im quite hammered and the quality of girl isnt always amazing. However I dont really wana loose that ability, if anything I would like it to become more "involved" Im sure in saying that I sound like a total penis but surley its only right? My questions to you are, Have any of you ever had braces on this late in life? Did it affect your feminine attracting powers, and how noticable were they if you wernt massivly smiley. Also pain? food? and have you had to have that much stuff done, I.E tooth removed etc. and how did that turn out? I do plan on getting them as I figure even if I do get NO feminin interest for a year and a half I should have good teeth for the rest of my life, so i figure--> worth it. to be honest though Im mentally self consious about it, Im not a confident person as it is, having braces at 18 isnt exactly my idea of good(no offence at all to anyone who has them, after all I too will have them). I need to know if I should plan to dedicate the next year and a half to riding and no socialising lol. Sorry to be a penis
JoNnY__Mc
I haven't had them, but I think you should get them now (sooner rather than later) because then you will have better teeth when you will want them. If your at partys and stuff and are trying to pull it shouldn't matter what you look like or if you have braces or not, it's how you talk to girls! Even so, some girls think braces are cute
Krisboats
Get a girlfriend, get a couple of months into it, then get the braces. She won't care and then your set to getting better teeth. To be fair yours sound better than mine, and i was always given the same treatment. I was told i wouldn't need braces whilst i was growing, then the first visit after i turned 18 they said yep you need them but your no longer on the nhs or whatever the dental equivalent is. I didn't like the thought of having them but to be fair, i wish i had as i'm now 21 and halfway through my life. Those dental cosmetic things might be another option, where they sit you in a chair, work some magic and out you come with nice teeth afterwards. Spikenipple
I would say go for it now while a) it's free and b ) the braces will work properly... I had braces a few years ago as I had a few seriously messed up teeth, including a top incisor growing almost directly behind another but braces sorted it out. The only thing I never did was wear my retainer, which i REALLY regret. If i'd used the retainer properly, my teeth would still be perfectly straight, but they've all moved back a little bit, which sucks basically. So yeah, do it. Sam F
I've got brace at the moment, i had too have 2 teeth out and its only the top. But im lucky enough to have clearstep braces which is like a retainer but works as a brace. It costs at a charge.. mine was £900, not sure what it would be for both but if thats how you feel about people seeing braces then its up too you. ilikeriding
They tell you it will be 18months but it really wont, they said it would be that to me, its now been 5 years Im 17 now and its pretty shit to be honest, every 6 weeks or so they will put a new wire in and the teeth will hurt to much to eat anything solid for a couple of days, I dont think girls mind them much though. Its probably worth it in the long run but you really will hate it when you first get it especially.

Skoze
Getting mine put on the week after radfax' ride, not sure what they'll be like really, but should be good in the long run Just not a fan of being 17/18 and still having them Looking forward to getting the teeeefs sorted 'cos they are royally f**ked, my bottom ones especially... Haz
Do it, you will not regret it when you have them off. You'll feel so much more confident. I had braces when I was 13, which isn't really the same, but if I hadn't, I'd have been bummed my teeth were crooked by now.
sidehop
Just do it, Ive had mine and its all fine and dandy now My mate has his just now and hes 18, He sees no problems in them. Also some of the colours they can offer are quite Discreet(sp?) For example silver... They dont show through very well compared to say orange. And after while you tend to stop noticing them so your self confidence is not lower as you forget they are there.... They arnt that noticable really. crazy_gap girl
Get them, i miss having my braces Braces now aren't anything new, i don't go errr that person has braces, i don't even think about it because more or less every 13-18 year old has them! I think they look cool
hI-OOPS-CAPS
my sis had quite bad teeth, which are now like shes had american dental care. your silly if you dont do it, just think of the day when they come off
JDâ„¢
Just don't get impatient and take them off yourself... my teeth are shit and at 21 there's no way I'm doing it again now, I'll just get a set of fake straight ones when I've got the money. You'll love it when it's done and you'd be silly not to.

Bondy
To be honest, if youve already got shit teeth and you manage to get women, im sure braces wont make a difference I suppose it just sucks being in such a society where looks are pretty much everything now and can prevent people from getting good healthcare due to it and looking different
The Duck
blah blah... braces... blah blah... the quality of girl isnt always amazing... (Lol)... blah blah I've seen your open gob many times... Its fiiiine. Nobody ever sees your bottom teeth, because your one of the massive majority of people who doesn't contract every muscle in their face when they smile (like my dentist, funnily enough ). And your top ones are ever so slightly bockety. They just aren't dead streight - they do look fine and thats coming from somebody who is actually obsessive about teeth (all the 'Shes quit hot...' 'Yeah but look at her f**king teeth' conversations). Don't worry about it, braces til your almost 19 would be gay and unnecessary.
Rich J
Got mine off like 3 months ago im 18 and a half. to be honest the sooner you have it done the less time they will be on. If you dont see your self having a problem with your teeth then dont worry about them, if you think it might then go for it. Not to sure how old it is you have to pay either. You can get all this clear brace stuff now maybe think about that?

Yea, but aparantly if they move anymore in a certain way then I could have issues with my like biting or somthing, and wear the tops of my molars away which doesnt exactly sound great. Also you say youv never seen my bottom teeth, I guess thats like a good thing, because theyd be less noticable... Does anyone know if my top teeth are abit off, but bottom ones are fecked wether or not theyl take the top ones off quicker? or will that mess up the interlocking thingy.. I am still savagly pissed off that I gotta have em so late in life, but I guess I got alot of living left to do and living with better teeth will be alll good maybe if there not sorted after 18months il have em off, go get an amazing job, and get some nice dental work done that sorts them out there n then... orrrr maybe not. Rich J
Think they will take one set off before the other if you ask nicely. Know I had the option but I would of had to wear a permanant retainer til the bottom ones came off anyway so I just left them on.
haydon_peter
I had loads of work done to my teeth when I was younger and they are still f**ked. From the age of about 12 through to 15 I was always having work done to my teeth. I had a load of teeth removed to create room in my mouth for the others to be moved and straightened with braces (One of my front top front teeth was completely behind the others haha) Last year at the age of 22 I had to have 3 of my wisdom teeth removed because they were not growing straight. Even after all the removal of teeth and braces etc... my teeth don't actually meet, there is about a 6mm gap where my front teeth don't meet! I have to go back to the hospital this year to have a check up in regards to my 4th wisdom tooth that still might need to be removed! At this point they are going to chat to me about my 'open bite' but if I want it fixed I will have to get even more orthodontic work done and I'm guessing I might have to get my jaw broken and re-aligned. I highly doubt I will ever bother getting this fixed though. Just get the braces now and get your teeth sorted free on the NHS, count yourself lucky that your not 22 and still having problems with your teeth! You need to remember that as soon as it's not free, dental work becomes horrendously expensive. get it over and done with.
