Mr Plod
Alright guys. I'm finally getting round to upgrading the audio in my mini so I'll start with what I've got to work with so far... The mini comes with a bog standard cassette/radio and two speakers in the back on the parcel shelf. I've bought this headunit the start of the week I also bought these door pocket/speaker pods this week Now I want to buy some 13cm speakers for the front door pocket pods and for the rear parcel shelf which I just measured and comes up at 17-18cm? I've been told Alpine are the ones to go for but I don't want to spend alot. I'm going to be running them off the headunit. So if anyone could give me a link to some decent alpine speakers that I could buy tonight then would be much appreciated. Also I mainly listen to indie music such as Bloc Party, Feeder, Editors and so on... I like my music medium to loudish but not chavvy loud... So quality more than bassy chav shit please. Thanks
The Stig
Ifintitys are very good for sound quality although are quite pricey at £79.99 they can be bought at any hlafords, as for your set up you want to got for 3 way speakers as the give a clearer/ quality sound rather than bass. So look out for 3 way, and i'd say alpine up front infintiy on the shelf And a good ole sub like me (just fitted mine well happy with it..... although the neighbour told me off Tom Hope i helped

Nuke Bowel
You have been informed correctly as for Alpines being the best, I run nothing but alpine, i'm running alpine DDDrive but they are top and pricey. If you just want decent sound quality without going to pricey my advice is jbl or infinity. You can't go wrong with either, sounds like you just want some fairly decent speakers with out going ott... I'll put some links up when I get back of some i'd advise. If you have money to burn, alpine for the win, cause they are soo crisp. Edit : infinity mids Jbl mids Edited June 8, 2008 by Nuke Bowel

No offence, but i wouldnt call apline the pinnacle of car audio. dont get me wrong their decent stuff i sh*t hot, but brands like resonant engineering and the like tend to blow them out of the water. also im rather anti alpine, as i view the fact, that their low end stuff, are cheap speakers, which they charge slightly more for, because of the branding on them. and the high end stuff, your not really buying for the name. infinity stuff is good at not a bad price, infact most of the cheaper speakers you cant go to far wrong with, generally avoid unheard of makes, and stuff like xplod, but even jbl stuff, despite its halfords image, isnt bad gear. JL and rockford fosgate stuff isnt too bad, but again i feel that low down the range, they charge more due to the name they stick on them. The higher end audiobahn stuff is good, but the lower end chromy flame crap, is crap(as in pick anything else over it. Fusion stuff isnt badly priced, but comes complete with the ripspeed chav image. which is kinda why i suggest, at a sensible price, Vibe stuffs hard to beat. *Note some of this may be slightly outdated, ive been out of car audio for a good 18 months or so now. Yerr, I agree with the fact on the lower range of alpine stuff is charged more than what you get for your money. jbl and infinity are amazing value, Vibe come to think about it are too, but I believe they're cones aren't as good. They make good subs for the price. I swear by my alpines.
