Jason222
I just found that I have a tone of play in my bb. Is there any way I can take it a part, and maybe replace a bearing or something? It's an Echo/first bb. If not, I'll have to buy something less shitty. Is there any that you people would recommend, that wont cost me an arm and a leg? Thanks! psycholist
What BB is it? Most modern BB's use sealed cartridge bearings, which are not adjustable, so it'll probably need to be replaced. This isn't a big job and continuing to use your BB as it is shouldn't damage anything else, so it isn't that urgent...
Jason222
It's an echo bb (as mentioned in the first post), made by First. The play is REALLY bad, like noticeable to the point where it's messing me up on the back wheel.
psycholist
The Echo is a cartridge BB - time to buy a replacement then: http://superstar.tibolts.co.uk/product_inf...;products_id=31 It's the same as the Echo BB but 2/3 of the price ... Jason222
It's cheaper to buy locally. lol I'm in Canada, so a bb from the uk would cost an arm and a leg.
psycholist
Have a look at http://www.jensonusa.com/ - they undercut EU prices even with delivery included on some things... Here's a list: http://www.jensonusa.com/search/?s=bb+isis...p;btnSearch.y=0 Edited June 8, 2008 by psycholist
Jason222
I've got a truvativ isis bb in the shed that's 118 mm, would it work in a GU LE frame...running gu cranks, with fixed cog? I'm going to go do some measurements, see if my ankles will hit the slaves. Edited June 8, 2008 by Jason222
psycholist
If the Gu's are anything like Echos it'll need a 128mm BB. I ran a 118mm in a Pure a year or so back and the chain rubbed on the inside of the bashguard, but the cranks did clear the frame... Easiest thing to do is put the same length of BB in as before unless you want to change your chainline...
Tomm
Are you sure it's the BB that's wobbly, rather than the BB / frame interface? I've never seen a BB develop noticeable amounts of play in itself, but if your BB is loose in the frame it'll be like that. If it is, sort it out NOW.
