Mark W
Due to a pretty complicated situation involving an aunt and uncle both suffering from Alzheimers at different stages, my family and I are trying to find a cheap car tracking setup. It's not for constant, 24/7 tracking or anything like that, just that if we need to find their car (They often park it in places and forget where it is, and it could be literally anywhere, or if one of them is out driving and is taken ill, no-one would know where they were), we'd be able to call the relevant company to find out where the car was. I know there are these services available to track stolen cars and stuff like that, but I've got no idea who offers the best service at the best price. Seeing as there are quite a few people on here who own expensive cars/motorbikes, I'm assuming someone on here's got some suggestions to make? Thanks for any help, it's much appreciated. Egg Fried Rice
Apparently, you can buy your own devices and look up where the car is parked simply by looking on the internet. I'll edit once i find something. You probably won't buy from this site, but this is the kind of stuff you may want. Click I will edit again if i find something better! David
You could go all out and build your own GPS tracker which relays its position over GPRS to your phone or computer with an exact location. Been looking to build one of these for some time but would cost around £150 Dave

David
Wouldn't that only work on close range? Nope, would work anywhere where the device had a mobile signal. Its been done before many times so its nothing too new but I fancy constructing my own. There are GPRS and cell tower triangulation positioning methods but these are no where as accurate as a basic 12 channel GPS device.
