Revolver
Its a letter that goes with your CV saying that you're applying for a job, and then name the job, and telling them that your CV is enclosed. There's more to it than that, but I've only done one and I can't rememer it! I guess the full details bit is your grades, etc. Edited June 4, 2008 by Revolver
JonMack
Off topic, but how can I write a crap CV? I'm applying for a job in JD Sports because I want a shitty part time job over summer, but I don't really want to tell them I've got a degree in graphic design, what should I do? JonMack
Well I don't want them to think I'm gonna leave as soon as the next decent graphics job comes up. I just need a bit of cash
Joe Aston
ahhhhhhhhhh just see if they need any temporary staff or just say dont mention it at all its only jd sports im sure they will employ you based on the fact you have A levels which is probably a lot more then the people who work in the jd in town. JonMack
Very true, I know of at least 2 people who work there straight from school. I hope they let you pick any pair of shoes from the store to wear as uniform. Air Max Lights here I come.
anzo
I hope they let you pick any pair of shoes from the store to wear as uniform. Air Max Lights here I come. Wow, your dignity comes cheap I very much doubt they will. My mate worked at JD or Sportsworld...something like that, and they made her wear this horrible black tracksuit and gay trainers - she didn't stick around long. A few mates I know who have worked in clothing shops, they make you buy your uniform from the store range...obviously with a bit of a discount. JonMack
Haha £85 isn't cheap I'm easy when it comes to clothes, I'll happily dress like a chav for 8 hours of mindless work a day. Most of the time I cruise around in trackies or shorts anyway so it's nothing new to me. I actually really want the job so I can pwn all my wages on shoes hah. tomturd
I spent about a week sorting my C.V and covering letter out. It paid off though as it was the only job I wanted and I got it (raising my job application success rate from 50% to 66%).
MadManMike
My applications to job offers rate was 100% until last year, then it went down to about 13%... No idea wtf happened, but it sucked. I went from ladder climber to social reject. Good luck with the job mate

Sonny Clarke
I'm coming the near end of my GCSE's with 3 exams left and i had already decided to go to Brighton city college to do media studies, ICT Practioneers and carpentry. However i feel a apprentership would be better, how do i go about looking/getting one?
Revolver
Ask at places you'd like to work at if they do apprenticeships, and then give them your CV and a covering letter, and cross your fingers. You might also have to apply to a college, but maybe they do it for you, I don't know.
