Chappie
Hi, I have just finished re-building a rear wheel to get rid of flat spots and buckles. So I have trued 5/6ths of the wheel fine, but there is one major "buckle" that I cant seem to get out by tightening the spokes. Is there any other way to apply pressure to this area to get rid of this? Any tips appriciated! I tried using the search but couldnt find anything. psycholist
Was the rim straight before you started? If yes, then you might need to slacken all the spokes off again and tension again more carefully, if the rim was bent before you started it may not be possible to build it into a straight wheel. eskimo
Isn't much chance of recovering de-shaped rims once they've been ridden in allot. It would of been stronger left how it was.
Chappie
Yeah it was in a bad way before I started but have managed to sort majority out. Just this final bit! Cheers for replies though!
ben_travis
make a video on ur phone / pics of it, and upload them, it might be possible for some wheelbuilder to help sort the problem
Chappie
Cheers but i think i have just managed to straighten it! Using a some wood, a corridor and my car jack! - Chappie
Mark W
If they're turbof**ked, standing on wheels can often do a world of good to them. We had a couple of wheels come into our old shop that the first thing we did was jump on them... Kudos for the wood/jack setup, I'd be shit scared, haha.
