Emergency Need Help!

Recommended Posts

does anybody know what size bb i need for the diamondback kabuki? i measured it and it was 100mm (4 inches), ive got a pair of middleburn cranks which needs a square taper axle.

HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!

thanks

The BB shell on the frame will be either 68mm or 73mm long and the axle will probably be 118mm or 127mm.

A new one from CRC is only 15 quid :)

The shell length is dependant on the frame, I would guess that the axle lengths are comparable between square taper and isis. Measure your old axle and get a square taper the same.

If youre not sure about clearance then its better to go for a longer BB axle to save the chainring/bash/cranks hitting the the chainstay yoke. Theoretically the longer axle is weaker because theres more unsupported axle sticking out of the bearings but it shouldnt really be an issue :)

thats what i meant its 100mm (4 inches) wide on the frame not the acutual bb, there is loads of clerance, that really doesnt bother me.

it looks like a 73mm wouldnt fit

Best bet would be to get in touch with the place you bought it/somewhere that stocks them, and see if either they have something you can buy, or can give you the spec of what you need.

Some 100mm BB shells are about there, and it's a bit silly since 95% of frames (withing trials at least) are either a 68 or 73mm shell

FSA do an ISIS BB in 100mm shell as seen here, so chances are there'll be a square taper one not too far away
