The Hitcher
They've got to be illigal for a reason, One reason is because the Government cant tax them and therefore dont get any money from them, so there illegal, Another could be cause people get fcuked up on them. Ive seen people been complete arseholes on E and other who are just over nice. I think it depends who you are, who your with and your social situation weather you have a 'good time'. Elliot
... They've got to be illigal for a reason, and there's people out there who are a lot more intilligent than me making these descisions so we don't have to. I supose i'd have different views if they were legal... People who make these decisions aren't necessarily more intelligent than you. They are people who have a greater desire than you to be making decisions for other people. Does this mean that they make better decisions than you can? No. Does this mean that the decisions they make are in your best interest? No. Hopefully they are in societies best interest, but thats different to your best interest. Arguably the descions they make are simply the ones most likely to keep them in power. So why should you let their decisions be your absolute guide? >Jesus, I appear to be in an anarchist mood this morning!<

Davetrials
how many people die from pills every year and how many die from alcohol surley that kind of statistic is avalible on the net?
anzo
And what are the statistics of comparing people who do drink and people who don't use drugs? Of course alcohol will have an increased death rate because more people do it than take drugs... AND not to mention, usually its not the drug or drink that kills someone, its the actions they take when under the influence! tryallmaster
What I always say is "What would your nana think if you were popping pills?" Impressed doubt it! From my experience at Uni for three years I have seen a fair few people f**k up their lives froming taking drugs. I have had friends stealing, shutting themselves out of the world, drop out of Uni, parents dis-own them, put in prison the list goes on.... At the end of the day its ultimately up to you to make the right choice... My personal opinion on drugs is simple: Drugs are an easy way out, why have that attitude in life. For instance I ride my bike because its a challenge...

1a2bcio8
I'm one of these people who thinks 'drugs are bad'. I'd be pissed off if i found out one of my friends took ecstasy, and i'd be on their ass untill they stopped without even giving two shits wether they're adictive or not, have any long term effects, or not. It just wouldn't matter. They've got to be illigal for a reason, and there's people out there who are a lot more intilligent than me making these descisions so we don't have to. I supose i'd have different views if they were legal. Then you know there's no shit in them, the money isn't going to criminals etc etc. My adivce would just be to stay away. Interestingly I remember seeing a government sponsered study about a year ago regarding which drugs were the most dangerous on a physical/psychological/social basis. If I remember correctly, it went something like heroin, cocaine, alcohol and then everything else... like ecstacy. Yet alcohol still remains acceptable and we even go as far as to extend the hours which it is accesible - I don't have a problem with that but it illustrates a point. I think it's a very dangerous and common problem of this society to assume that the people who call the shots (the authorities of some sort) really know what they're doing and aren't behaving as irrationally and stupidly as the rest of us. If you want an amusing description of the the history of the criminalising of cannabis in America search on e-mule or something similar for "Noam Chomsky + cannabis". Not only does be describe how stupid the process of deciding the dangers of cannabis but he also mentions a typical trend of the criminalising of the substances which the poor inudlge in. At one point in UK history supposedly Gin was illegal whilst all other alcoholol was not, Gin being the drink of the poor. Everyone is a fallible being operating not just rationally but also emotionally, presumptively and at least occasionally, stupidly. If the justification of ecstacy being illegal is that it is dangerous yet alcohol is considered more dangerous, then this is just evidence of a non-rational behaviour from our government, motivated by some other reason. TheCircus
This thread makes me want to type, but the drugs I am using make me so happy I don't care about the misinformed and often slightly maniacal viewpoints expressed in this thread. I don't do Ecstasy, and I have no urge to do it or any other drug apart from cannabis (gateway drugs for big lose), but at the same time people who take it know there is a "risk", but then again there are risks walking down the street, and taking risks is fun, especially heroin. So anyway - looking back on this post it just seems like a big bag of convoluted failure, but then again I don't care enough because I am on TOO MANY DRUGS, LOOK AT ME. I suspect though that some people will look at this graph and still be unable to remove the negative connotation of those substances which easily get the label of drugs. The word is too loaded to allow for rational thought. People really need to take a moment and THINK about their thinking. Are you making sense? Or are you a robot of the conditioning you recieved from anti-drug propoganda at school and on television?

I think its far more than the negative connotations of the word ‘drugs’ Taking JT!’s response as an example (please don't take offense dude!) he is willing to hassle his friends over a decision that they may have come to rationally and with fore-thought, over his judgement which is based simply on it being illegal. I can buy clothes made in sweatshops, I can buy make-up tested on animals, I can buy a chicken burger made of chickens that live in their own shit, and do this all legally, does that make it right? Its one f**ked up world where people will not trust their own moral values to decide whats right and wrong, but instead just rely on law and give it no more thought than that. I’m not saying that I’m always right, but its always my decision. I need a joint.

I don't do things by halves mate, the word you needed was AND.... Nah, it just so happens that 2 of them are alcohol and tobacco, I'm sure a load of people on here can "confess" to using those completely legal drugs. A LOT of comments in this thread are complete crap which make me giggle hugely, but none of your surpass Hendrix at the moment. Hang out with some real people and concentrate on what they're doing, a lot of them will be doing drugs of one form or another. This does not make them bad people, it doesn't make them any more/less clever than the rest of humanity. It's just a choice. Choose life, I chose something different. I'm going to go ahead and assume here that your trials bike has reflectors on both pedals, a working front and rear light, and that you never ride it anywhere other than on the road, in a safe and controlled manner? Oh, wait... Drugs are an easy way out An easy way out for having fun on a Friday or Saturday night? Probably, yeah. They don't have to rule your life. Don't use proper addicts as your reasoning for why people do them, 'cos using examples from either end of the spectrum is always a bad idea. Everyone I know who does any kind of drug hasn't stolen anything to pay for them or any of that shit that people like to come up with about drug-taking, none of them have been 'dis-owned', etc. I never thought I'd say this, but I'm 100% with Rowly in this arguement, haha. Oh, wait... I seem to remember using the same analogy myself last time we had one of these topics. I was gunned down by about 5 different people for daring to associate their blatant disregard for the law when it comes to their bike and how drugs aren't all that bad as being almost blasphemous. Maybe the analogy hits too close to home for some people.
