56 and i bet he is in top shape from doing it aswell. I've just got myself a stock and it tires me out in no time learning trials but i figure if i keep at it then the pain will get less and less (i hope :S)

You are never to old to start something new.

As long as you are healthy and think you are up to it, Give it a blast

If you do decide to do start, Best of luck with it.

Edit: Jesus he is 56 :o

I contact the 56-year-old rider Mark Wu.

He was very glad to encourage other "old" (just thought by themselves) riders in UK.

He said

"I have been seriously ill because lung disease laying on bed for about 5 years only skin and bone left, finally I decided to do something to save myself, so I start riding bike three years ago, I bought the trial bike one year ago, that picture was taken after 3 month of practice, now I changed to stock trial, I am Mark Wu, I am still not healthy, but I am alive and happy."

Personally I don't think age really matters (within reason), but I think it really is personal preference. Obviously depending on health and general fitness, but over all I think someone could quite easily ride trials and enjoy it in their 30's. I'm only 17 and when I did ride trials I rode for about 5 years, then I quite for about 1 month, felt lost without it so went back and I have to say, trials is such a great, enjoyable way of keeping in shape.

As has been said, I don't think age should bother you if you're up for trying something new... trials is a great sport, it has plenty of variety, great social side and as I've said, keeps you fit while you have fun. Best of luck with taking trials up as a hobby though! I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Shep.
