Sam-Addy A3
Right well here's the thing...... I broke my freewheel so borrowed my mate's spare ENO for a ride. Yesterday i got my new freewheel, i went to take my friend's off and it wouldn't budge, my dad took it to work and made a tool and it still wouldn't budge. Does anyone have any tips or tricks to get freewheels off of crank arms? Thanks Sam
Ladd
find someone with a big vice bolted to a bench, Get a proper freewheel tool put it on the freewheel and bolt it on with bolts and washer, this stops it sliipping and rounding your freewheel then put the tool in a vice get a long bar about 1Metre long slide it over the crank arm and turn freewheels come off so easy this way:)
JoeM
Buy a special tool, then put a long bolt through the middle and clamp in vice. After that, stick a masssive pole on the end of the crank arm and it should come off easy. I found it best to soak the threads in penitrating oil first. JoeM
When you put your new one on, put some copper grease on the threads to stop it siezing up. Also, it might pay to strip down the monty freewheel, then clean all the grease out, and run it with a light wet lube.
