SuperDeathMonkey
My maxxis creepy crawler is too big for my neon rim. Whenever i put the tyre on and pump it up a bit of the tyre just pops out as soon as i jump on my back wheel. Need help! I was informed that try-all tyres are tighter around the rim, will this fix it? cheers
Echo-Scott
Yeh, try-all tyres are abit tighter round the rim, also heard that the monty eagle claw tyres are tight round the rim aswell.
ogre
if the tyre is old, then the bead could have gone. what pressure do you use?
Sidehop Stuart
You sure your tyre isnt a 20'' and is a 19''? Edited May 29, 2008 by trials onza
SuperDeathMonkey
tyres fairly new. its deffinately a rear 19" tyre. i've tried different pressures in it but it always ends up popping out. i may have to try a try-all or monty one then. cheers
Luke Rainbird
It's definitely sitting properly on the rim? Had issues with this up front before, but it's fine provided I check it's in place evenly around the rim during installation
SuperDeathMonkey
yeah i did think that but it kept popping out. even when its not pumped up there is still a good gap where the rim can move up and down. if you know what i mean. has anyone else got a Neon 19" rim? did this happen to them? Yeah think so - though mine would move around when the tyre was flat, but not when it was pumped up due to the increased pressure holding the bead tighter to the rim
psycholist
Pump the tyre until the tube is just big enough to fill the tyre. Then work around the tyre on both sides pushing the tyre bead on both sides up or down on the rim so that it's even. Then once you've pumped it to the pressure you use it at it should be fine. If not you either need a tighter tyre or a wider rim. I haven't compared 20" and 19" tyres (Being a stock rider), but I'd guess a 20" wouldn't fit at all. SuperDeathMonkey
The tyre isn't staying on so anyone know what the tightest 19" tyre is?
AdamR28
Is it possible that the rim is at fault? Has the problem only started since you changed rim?
Mat Smith!
can you see any obvious damage to the rim/tyre? Matx
SuperDeathMonkey
The tyre was fine on my monty rim. Then built wheel on to Neon rim and the problem started. No obvious damage. i did think the tyre beading bit looked a bit frayed but the tyre works fine on other rims. Alex-Mitchinson
Or the sidewall on the Neon rim has a slightly lower profile.
AdamR28
It does sound like the rim is the problem then.... got a tape measure? If you could check the overall diameter of the rim that might try and weed out the problem - Try-Alls are 397mm and Echos 398mm for comparison. Also, compare the 'bead' (the little bit that sticks out inside the sidewalls to 'catch' the tyre) of the Neon rim to your Monty one to make sure it isn't too small

AdamR28
I see, hmm... well a new tyre may help, there are none specifically smaller than others as far as I know, but it does sound like it's the rims that's the problem
