not old but if you scour the internet like me for new shiny bits for my bike all the time, then they are "old"

do look rather pimp ive got to say. not a huge fan of hope downhill/freeride brakes, but still shiny bike tart bits none the less.

still prefer my avid code callipers with avid juicy ultimate levers :P

They are lovely. I recieved a letter at work the other day from hope advertising these as its only a month special through june.

They have pretty much done a varie of colours for the brakes such as red, pink, gunmetal, green, silver and limited edition purple which was done for mbuks anniversery bike.

Not sure I could justify £300 just on brakes when my Juicy 5 rear and Tektro Auriga front are awesome...

But they certainly are pimp :)

if you actually had a chance to ride a decent set of brakes for a reasonable amount of time the you would see where the money goes and how you could justify the cost. let alone just visbly see the difference in quality.

i cant really fault my avid set up, huge power from the code callipers and a reasonable weight saving form the juicy ultimate levers. but then the retail on the codes alone were £360 for a pair and i managed to get the ultimate elvers for £60 (althoguh technically you cant buy them).

in the grand scheme of a DH bike 300 quid on brakes is a small amount when you can spend a grand on a set of forks and 2500quid on a frame. i dont want to even start adding up the retail of my socom.

Don't get me wrong, I can totally see WHY they cost that much - I just personally couldn't justify it because my level of riding doesn't demand such quality braking.

The ones I have on there at the mo are about £150 a pair and are fine for me.
