ok well ive been a member here for a year or two (as a lot of you have) and i remember the days when quick spider (sorry to use your name jsut only remember urs ) got given admin status.

anyway in my opinion things are getting closed to quickly or things being edited for fun and it shouldn't be like that. i dont know whos doing it and i dnt expect fingers will be pointed BUT i think it would be only fare to see the trials forums views.

why did the sidehop thread have its name changed? was a bit unfair as it is a big topic with a lot of posters contributing or am i wrong?

jts thread fare enough he might have been wrong but was there any need t close it? why not just leave it to fizzle out, i mean as far as i could see there was no abuse or slagging , maybe only a bit of frustration from mark but there was no need to bring up rape by men fare enough he probably ment it as a JOKE but i mean come on the joke thread got closed because half the jokes included sex or racism.

i dnt see why this topic would get closed but it probably will as " im causing hassle"

but i would like to just see views of other people that is all.

Just take a look at the situation from there point of view.

When they get in from a long hard day at work or whatever. They log into tf and find 50-100 people have reported topics..they have to sit there and ween there way through all of them taking the appropriate action. They have to do whats best for the forum..not just to keep a couple of members happy.

They try and be as fair as possible..but sometimes forum members dont know when to stop.

yeah i agree with you there but then again from others point of veiw after there hard day work no one is forcing them to go through all the topics and close them.

It must really suck to pour hours of effort, time and your own money into a forum like this only to log on and see topics like this.

Ive been on here for some years now and I can honestly say I havent experienced anything other than an incredibly well run and maintained forum.

I for one would be gutted if they suddenly bit the bullet and said screw it, why are we doing this and taking all this shit. Lets shut TF down.

As far as mods being out of control, can't say that i've really seen any threads that should have remained open. Though there are times when i wish they would stay open longer for added fun.

Referring to people saying it's gotten worse since the older days, i agree with that, although i accept it's probably a mixture of whats funn these days comapred to old days and the average age of the forum user. This isn't a dig at any of the newer users in particular as i can see that back when i joined everyone probably thought what i said was stupid and immature. Now i'm just in their position. Think most of the problem stems with older members being around the 18+ range and newer members starting around 12. Just need to get on with it though.

I think the mods and admins do an amazing job to be honest And things like thread titles being changed and things being edited, it's a laugh If anything that shows they're less power trippy as they can mess about too. Just don't take the internet too seriously.

However, personally i think a fair few mugs have joined in the (relatively short i guess) time i've been here.

I use MANY other forums. By god this has got to be the most rule bounded one i've ever been on, you so much as mention the word sex, BAM 20% warn up your arse.

All the other forums, No warning system, very thin guidelines and yet....everyone spells correctly, i don't see half as much arguing on there than i do on here. To be honest, were probably the forum with the most arguements.

Were meant to have a chit chat section, which is meant to be for ANYTHING, yet it still gets hounded with rules.

The exact reason so many people argue and complain is because this is an internet forum, where were supposed to communicate with people from all around the country/world. Not a place where we get rules and warnings thrown at us left,right and centre.

Im on 80%, i know i was an arguementative little shit and to bo honest i don't really care, it's all abit of fun. Thats the problem with this world, the freedom of speech act has been over-ruled so much.

I am a member of a forum where if you say 'have emailed you' you get banned for a day. If you were a member of that forum you'd have been banned a long time ago.

Topics like these happen around every 6 months it seems (usually when I'm hungover too oddly). Seen it before, will see it again..

You have to remember that not all trials riders are 16/17/18 year old boys, and most don't all care about seeing pictures of girls tits or guys heads getting blown off. Tom and Danny (and the mods) have to run a forum that's suitable for people of all ages. How do you think John Peacock (is that his name, Robbies dad?) would feel if he let Robbie have a go on the computer, and he came onto trials forum, stumbled across the "Post a pic of your favourite page 3 model thread" and filled the screen with half naked women. There are rules for a reason, if you don't like them, f**k off. It's really not that hard not getting warned, and I don't really see what kinda threads we're missing out on by having the rules in place, if all its gonna be is half naked girls and "funny" videos, i'll go on totally crap or an amateur porn site.

Backing up Mikes point, do you dislike the rules because they mean you can't kick off at everyone and the swear filter blocks your childish arguments because your mental capacity is so low you cant argue without resorting to profanities, or is it something else?

JT's thread had fizzled out. Tomm had answered his question on P1. People kept pointing that out, and JT kept on saying "But they can't be!" or words to that effect. Asking me 3 times in a row (Pretty much...) to say again what I'd said in a post before is f**king irritating, especially when he drops out "But you know I'm stubborn." I edited one post, and I edited the title to "JT can't understand simple things" or whatever it was. If that's genuinely rocked your world, there's something wrong...

If you're refering to that one thread, I wouldn't really say it was a power trip. It was hugely irritating, but at the same time, it was largely meant as a joke.

If we don't, more threads like this pop up with people saying that "The forum's going to shit" 'cos "People are posting shit all the time". There's so much stuff that needs sorting every day from new people making fake accounts, people spamming the forum, people flaming people, etc. - there's loads of stuff you wouldn't see because you aren't looking for it, and because chances are someone on the moderation team's already sorted it. If we all went away for a week, you'd notice.

I'd agree with that. I hardly ever go in NMC these days purely because it's so f**king depressing. I can't actually understand how schools are churning out people who are that stupid, and who are that incapable of using a computer. That does cover quite a few people who are full members, but it's just NMC that does my head in.

You yourself admit you're arguementative, other people have flagged up how you've been e-Hard repeatedly on here (Which really f**ks me and a lot of other mods/admin out, and indeed other members), and you're surprised you've got a lot of warnings? The reason you haven't had many recently is that you appear to have actually changed the way you post, and instead of just talking shit on people and threatening people you've actually been pretty decent. Either way, like Tom says, you're one of the only people with 40%+ warn on here, so you're more of an exception to the rule?

I agree in part with this thread - this forum is run for its users, and it's a place for everyone to come and chat about trials. It's not supposed to be a place where the 5 or 6 mods/admin go on power trips and do what they want. But then I genuinely don't think that's what goes on. If I went on a power trip, there's at least a couple of people who would be wiped off the face of the forum for good, haha.

I think the mods (especially me) do a good job, and I don't think anyone wants a forum without rules. Putting effort into your posts just helps everyone else, and helps the forum run smoother. The spelling thing only becomes an issue when 1) people take the piss and 2) when people nit-pick. 99.9% of the time, it's fine.

I think the rules are in the best interests of everyone. Obviously I don't speak for Tom / Danny, but I think these discussions are a good thing - if only to reaffirm that we're actually doing OK, as the majority seem to agree. But in all seriousness, if you have any gripes with the way the forum is run, or things you think could be done better, let us know.

Tom and Danny are making loads of money from this forum, not to mention all that poontang they're getting as a direct result of the kudos associated with being administrators on the UK's 9th biggest cycling website. They'd never shut it down.
