How To Get A Trials Park Built.

We had a skate park build in abingdon, after being requested by skateboarders. The way they went about doing it was to write a petition and gets thousands of people from around the local community to sign it. Then hand it into your local council I believe. I think it took about 3 years after the petition started for a skate park to be build. Might have been longer actually. Anyway if your starting to get bored of the same stuff, then wouldn't you get bored of a trials park? As it doesn't change daily :S

Ahh dont just get the riders in the local area, Get the local community as in Old people, get pcso's to agree with it, give them reasons for why it would help the area, and then the council just cant say no. If the local community need it, and it can be proved to reduce problems in the local community then i dont see any reason why they cant do it. It may take years, and alot of patience. You may have to raise money and stuff, but in the end itll be worth it.

:)

Heres is some basic websites i found about Abingdons skatepark.

http://abingdon2006.blogspot.com/2006/04/s...ark-needed.html

View that one, then read the next

http://www.whitehorsedc.gov.uk/leisure_and...ark/default.asp

Proof it can be done :)

Got one built near me now, it just got built out of the blue. The council was getting proper pissed off at people riding the town, they give 2 lads asbos i believe. So i guess the best way to get one built is to keep getting bollocked by the police and get them anoyed (makesure you always say theres no where buit for you to ride) and eventually email the council and sugest it.

hi there,

well there is many ways to go about it. In the village were i live Beauly a group of skaters were wanting a skate park built they done loads of things to trya nd get it. They started a petition and got nearly the whole village to sign it but the council were'nt intrested, So they desided that they would fund it by running events to raise money for it it. It took them 7 years to do but they got it last year and all they managed to get was a halfpipe so was'nt worth while. I know what you mean about getting bored of riding the same stuff over and over again i am the same but i just try and ride different places each week and maybe if you have the transport maybe you and a group of riders should ride somewhere different for the day.

Hope i helped you

Craig :)

I'm fully against building trials parks and i'm a trials rider.

It's the same reason there arn't any trials shops (actual shops). There just isn't enough trials riders per unit of distence. Skateparks get built becuase there half a dozen types of things to be done on them.

Also, a trials park would get boring after 2 weeks, doing the same gaps over and over. I feel the idea of trials is to explore what's already there and ride it.

People have got to get out of the idea that they need a trials park unless there would be like 30 people in a 15 min range of it it would be uttery pointless and a waste of money.

I disagree, trials parks should be built as it allows people to get into the sport easier i think. Also if the council push it they could get the kids into it at a young age may be by demos there and stuff and this then gives you something to put all you time and effort into and have something to focus at and help with the nusence chavs make on the streets. Usually a problem with all the groups on the streets is that they dont have anything else to do and it becomes almost there hobby going out on street corners, skate parks dont work to well as you just get chavs riding up and down ramps and then very few of them take up the sport seriously. You cant do that with trials you have to take it serioously just to learn some basics and then your hooked on it anyway.

Depending on the park its self they dont get boring quickly, ours is made up of few concrete things rocks and logs. It sput together well and theres stuff for beginners and some good stuff for expert riders. If you just ride the obvious line then it is boring but if you use some imagination we have found some cracking lines and theres the option to make sections aswell.

Trials parks dont cost alot to make as like our council did they used rocks/ stone ect from old buildings that where being pulled down at the time and then im guessing they bought a few of the other rocks and concrete which wouldnt of cost to much. The logs where held together with metal strips and nails and are proper sturdy. One problem we have is they put gravel down which is abit shit.

Hi, instead of getting a public park where it will proberly get ruined by Chavs why dont you speak to some local companies and see if they have any old or spare wood or pallets you could have and build one on your own property, that is what me and luke (fox355) have done in my back garden got a few pallets from the factories and some wood and built a nice little course and then we can just chjange it whenever we want and wont have anyone else complaining. I will try and get some pics uploaded so you can get some ideas

Hmm, I'm neutral with this topic, but I sure spotted something funny. Or rather contradicting.

A trials park would get boring after 2 weeks cos your like doing the same moves over and over. (according to JT)

Then what about the streets? They don't change and why people aren't bored of it?

(just something to ponder about...)

Hi i was wondering if anyone new how you could go about getting a trials park built as were i live there isn't one and it would bve good to have one as getting bored of riding the same stuff realy.

I have excactly the same problem as you do.

Speak to local Police Community Support Officers they should put you throught to somebody.

I have permission to build one and I have the land.

I am now seeking funding for the park. I was supposed to have been emailed months ago. No reply.

although. They have given me £500 to start.

Dont let people on this forum put you down with saying "Its not going to happen" e.t.c

Just give it a go. Whats the worst that could happen?

You have to be careful about objects that can move. Like Pallets. They must be fastened down and everything must look like it was put their rather than dumped.

Send the council photos of other trials park and just say hoe many people ride in your local area. Just be friendly.

Good Luck

Charlie

what i said has nothing to do with emails. about a month ago the pcsos told me and brad to get u to go and talk to somebody at the discovery centre to discuss about how funding could be sorted and they could have started building the park. and they needed you becuase your the one with all the emails and knew more about who was who....but we have missed that opportunity
