Jason222
Alright, so I just had a echo control frame, no booster on it (has one built into the frame), and I'm running a magura with plaz pads on a new grind. The brake worked excellently, very loud and tones of hold. Then I got a GU LE frame, and switched everything over, and added an Adamant brake booster, and now I'm finding it's completely silent, and doesn't hold as well! What's going on there? Anyone else have this problem?
Ryan.
take the booster off
Ben John-Hynes
yeah remove the booster.Boosters remove all vibration from the frame/brake and therefore stop the noise,And the LE frame may already be stiff enough so a booster could make the brake TOO stiff and make it worse! psycholist
If the brake has gone silent but holds less that sounds a lot more like something has contaminated the rim (Like your oily fingers transferring everything to the new frame). Try cleaning/regrinding the rim and sanding the brake pads.
Bionic Balls
sometimes just moving the pads is enough...and they need to bed in again
Muel
It's very wierd, but on frames that are already stiff a booster can just make matters worse.Take it off and see!
timmorley
i had the same problem when i switched from my zhi to my le.i was running heatsink reds in cnc backing and they were mint in on the zhi but as soon as they when on the le they were just shocking. so i put some snowies in with a plastic backing and it works amazing. it doesnt wair too fast either. its pretty ideal really. i dunno why it does it though. although i can see my le is no where near as stiff as the zhi was so i pressume that has summat to do with it.tim
Matthew_Gibson
Was the frame flexing at all which out the booster you put on? I had an Adamant A1 which had a booster intergrated into the frame, but it still flexed a little. So I got a booster. It did make a difference. I now have an old Control which does need a booster due to frame flex.
AdamR28
I think it's more likely:1. The booster dampens the sound2. The pads need to bed in again before they will work 100%
ben_travis
Thanks for a sensible post adam.I really do not understand why people want loud brakes.I cant stand my brakes being loud. Sucks botty when they are. Instead, i prefer a lovely quiet brake that holds good. thats why im so smooth....... haha
