Danny Kearns
Hey guys, I've got a Try-all rim on at the moment, now, these thing just don't like drop gaps or heavy riders at all.So, Im not wanting my backend to feel heavier...So if i change to a Echo 07 from a Try-all will i really feel the difference ?It's stock by the way, I think the Echo 07's are 100 grams heavier.Thanks,Danny. Ben John-Hynes
Can you not try and get hold of an older echo rim?05 or 06.Other that that, there's not a lot that can be done to adjust the feel of the back end.
Danny Kearns
Trim the tyre a bit to save the few grams?Other than that, ride it Already cut the side tred off Had to cause a 2.5 doesn't fit in controls if you don't.05 Rims are too thin and 06 are made of cheese. Mark W
If you're talking stock, if you bear in mind that 100g is going to be spread around the entire circumference of that rim, I doubt you'll really feel it. If you do, you'll get used to it within a ride, pretty much. It'll be reet!
Matthew_Gibson
would think you'll be able to tell. unless you put it on scales. Why not get a front echo rim its only 40mm wide though. probably as strong as the rear too
eskimo
Depends how weight sensitive you are. Most people wouldn't notice. But the Echo 07 rims aren't all there cracked up to be either. If you were to run a harder pressure the Try-All should be fine. Isit flat spots your having problems with?
Skoze
My bike seems to have gone nuts on the lets see how heavy this back end can be-o-meter.I can't really tell exactly how much the difference in the rim is, as i now have the rim, a king and all the large mono trial paraphenalia (sp?) on the back.As Mark said, that 100g is spread out a fair bit, so i reckon it'd feel a bit different, but nowt majorWhack one on there boyo! You're a bit of a beast anyway Matt

Isit flat spots your having problems with?Well, this wheel i have on a brought Second hand, the wheelbuild wasn't the greatest when i got it, flat spotted and buckled. So went over it with a spoke key and got it remotely better. Since i've been riding on it, ive managed to put 3 dents in it and made the flatspot abit bigger. My bike seems to have gone nuts on the lets see how heavy this back end can be-o-meter.I can't really tell exactly how much the difference in the rim is, as i now have the rim, a king and all the large mono trial paraphenalia (sp?) on the back.As Mark said, that 100g is spread out a fair bit, so i reckon it'd feel a bit different, but nowt majorWhack one on there boyo! sidehop
Run a front rim back there man...They hold up. Trust me.Travs got a front on the back.
totaltrials
I think if you need a stronger rim it's worth the extra weight especially as you don't need to worry about it after extra gap.I doubt you'll feel the difference with just changing the rim, but if you change other bits it'll all add up and you'll notice it. N.Wood
Don't be such a basher? You won't feel 100g, especially on the rear. Only the difference from going to a new tyre from a bald one.
Greetings
The difference can be greater, it depends on how much your rim weighs. The heaviest anodized 07 Echo I've come across was 899g, the lightest Tryall was 690 though some weigh even less. You will notice a ~200g difference.Don't get a front Echo, it might be strong enough but it weighs about the same as a TryAll 47mm rim. casualjoe
Give a Neon rim a try, they have double thickness sidewalls and weigh the same as a tryall and they are on sale at the mo and you wont need to buy new spokes, thats what I want to do anyway but I would like to read some reviews of them before I dive in there, I cant find anything on them. Mark W
If you're running a 2.5" tyre on the back, a front rim would be asking for pinches to the max, and some pretty wanktastic tyre rollage if you ride anything other than right angle edged walls, or nice rails. ben_travis
Well i will answer the questions about a front echo rim on the rear (as i run one) Brilliant rim. I have had no problems with sideways roll, no problems with pinch punctures.I recently ground out the inner wall of the rim (to see about weight weenie ness) and still had no real problems. Although the rim is now dieing and as such i will be re-building my silver rim onto the bike. Its definately worth considering, as they hold a grind fairly well, and as someone said, its the same weight as a try-all, so you will not notice a difference in the weight, however u will have a strong rim.
