MadManMike
Ok from this site and others in would seem the general consensus is to change the drums.I will work on that Thanks for the feedback and re: Lily, I like her and her music. Kate Nash and suchlike are wannabe Lily's and should not exist.
BONGO
Chris martin has a really good dry sense of humour. In interviews, he is very subtle but has a very quick, humerous mind that he hides behind his normal answers. I think he's a funny guy. The reference to coldplay in 40 year old virgin is still funny though
Tomm
I couldn't download it before, just had a listen now. Sorry, I don't like it at all! The synths are disturbingly out of tune (wrong key?) with the chorus, it pains my ears! The beats are weird but then I know that's the D&B thing, but it's too slow for that? Generally I tend to like covers when they add something to the original or move it over to a different genre (See Jose Gonzalez's cover of Heartbeats, Radiohead's Nobody Does It Better and Amy Winehouse/Mark Ronson doing Valerie). But to me you don't really add anything to set it apart from the original. Now I know it's not a 'cover' as such, but I still think it needs to sound more different if you want it to be interesting. If it's just to be played in the background in a chillout part of a club then I suppose that's a bit different.I feel a bit harsh saying this because it's obviously taken a lot of work and it does sound very professionally-made. But I don't like it Just one question: How do you isolate the vocals and stuff? Do you just have to buy/download the track with no backing or can you do something cleverer than that? I always wondered this.
Max Quinn
Snare: 1:30 through 1:50, and then when it's repeated through the rest of the track - overpowers the rest of the track and as such sounds almost MIDI-esqueYer he said it better then me Mike. Just generally a bit overpowering.

I always wondered this.No it's fine mate, to be fair I've had no musical training - taught myself production and use pretty crap software lol The synths were originally used in a trance track I made, so I slowed it down to make a chilled out trancey kinda tune but much slower. That sounded boring so I looked up some Acapellas (Just vocals, no other elements) and found Lily's one. I like her stuff anyway so thought I'd give it a go. The vocals don't fit that well but then the track wasn't made for the lyrics, they were just added to give the track something more...I think what you mean about the pad and vocals being out of tune - I can easily sort that I'm still learning and teaching myself - if I had a producer friend that could help and £k's worth of software I reckon I'd be pretty good.
