aener
So - I've got a one of the above cameras, and as a good few of you know, they record in the retarted format of ".MOD".Nothing can read this, though you can simply change the extention to ".mpg", and it works absolutely fine. Not sure why they're different names, if they can be altered just by retyping it Question is... When I do this - I get no audio.I know it's a long shot, but do any of you have any ideas/knowhow?I used to get all my footage, whip it together in a project with the software that came with it, that exports as .wmv, and then WMM it up.Got a new PC, lost the software disk, and wondering if I'll be able to have any audio in my videos again Please?Cheers in advance. James
And I quote.."MOD is a computer file format used primarily to represent music, and was the first module file format. MOD files use the “.MOD” file extension, except on the Amiga where the original trackers instead use a “mod.” prefix scheme, e.g. “mod.echoing”. A MOD file contains a set of instruments in the form of samples, a number of patterns indicating how and when the samples are to be played, and a list of what patterns to play in what order."and I also found thisNot sure if either are helpfull, but maybe they will point you in the right direction. aener
James - what you posted was perfect - though the bit in the page that links me to a download for a filter/codec thing is dead Old page, by my guess. An extra, easier question arises...Compressing.I've always used WMM before, so I haven't had to worry about it - but now I'm exporting a 1:30 .avi, and it's 328mb.Any help THERE? That's FAR too big.Don't really want to loose quality though...
James
Well it depends where you're going to be putting the video, but it suggest you try the h.264 or wmv codec. I've always been massively impressed at the quality:size ratio with either of these. This this seems to convert to both.Hope this helps. eskimo
I also have a HDD Everio. The program you get is very poor! There are few programs written to convert the .mod format into something usefull. Which is very annoying and i haven't found anything usefull therefore i gave up filming for now.Let us know if you do find anything though as i haven't yet.The one above seems okay though?? Haven't tryed it yet.But just changing the file format from .mod to .mpeg isn't recommended and alot of programs still can't use it. Also you can loose the aspect ratio. I'm not really sure what i'm on about but this is what i read when searching myself. How did you find your video quality on your Everio? That was suppost to be the big let down with them after reading plenty of forums.
aener
Well - *cough*Premiere*cough* has no problems with aspect ratio or reading, by just changing the names...I got the Everio MG GZ 21E, or something to that effect. It was bottom of the line, or maybe one off bottom.Uncompressed - the quality is really good. Not the best - but I'd place it quite a way above average.Compressed to .wmv twice ( :$ ) - it's like this.I'll talk to you on MSN, see about sending you the high res. video on a CD (not figured out how to compress without too much quality loss - and 1:30 is 328mb, uncompressed.)
