Welds...

:S hi guys , i was wondering do you need a correct weld for a specific bike or can you just use any old weld ive heard that if the weld is not correct it becomes brittle and snaps

is this correct ? and where would the best place to get one welded at?

If it's an aluminium frame, welding isn't too bad, but it could definitely do with heat-treating after to make all the material perform the same. If not the area right next to where it was heted for welding will crack pretty quickly.

If it's steel it's not as bad, most engineering places should be able to cope without too much bother.

Check www.yell.com for metal fabricators in your area :).

Hi i was a welder befor i got ill.

For a alu frame the weld will need to be put on at the right temp and the penatrashon on the in side will be different for what the frame will be used for.

For a steel frame the weld dose not really matter as steel is alot stroger than alu.

Always go to a proffessional welder.
