Sabiot
Can anyone suggest a bike for me, the problem with trials bike is that it only has 1 crank gear so that u cant reach higher speeds.Any suggestions?I ride a rocky mountain flow 3.0This bike was designed mostly for trails and dirt jumps, however because of the way the frame sits and how low you can get the seat, the fact that its a hard tail, etc. Its a decent trials bike. I'm having fun learning how to do trials on this bike. Nice speed, good for getting around. I've taken it off a couple smaller drops, no problems with the bike at all after about 8 months of use. The only thing I need to do is tune up the gears.Rocky mountain makes a good bikeI also bought (a few years back) a Norco Wolverine. Good bike. Cheap though. I mean, the only thing that ever broke was the shocks (not the whole fork) and a blew a few tires. Good to learn on and it was only $500 Canadian
Clownbike
I used to jump my pashley 26 Mhz. Pure trials machine, but you can take it on to trails, plus you have to be super smooth as it is a rigid bike. Awsome fun!!Edit - To get a higher gear you can add an extra cog to the cranks and run a large bash like Hans Rey used to Edited May 4, 2008 by Clownbike
Muel
It's a massive compromise, you can't have a bike that's good at both, it will be stuck in the middle.I used to do trials, xc, jumping and 4x on a Scott YZ0. the only thing it did well was 4x, for everything else the geo was too slack, and for trials the brakes were dire and the chain fell off when I pedalled backwards.
