Boswell
The latest version has been released of AVG anti virus (8.0) and it costs! Looks like the days when you could say "You ideot why did you buy an anti vrius when AVG does a better job for free!" are sadly over. Shame on you AVG! Dan Clark
The fact that AVG insists on updating itself every f**king time I turn on my computer, and really obviously too meaning I can't do stuff until the giant AVG window is done, really really really pisses me off. Haz
Why not stick with 7.5?They'll continue to update virus definitions and it works, eventually they will let us have 8, that's the way it works.

Tomm
I had a virus on my memory stick which I got from a university computer (it was a computer for a microscope and intentionally left offline so it "couldn't" get viruses ). Brought it home and AVG dealt with it quickly and painlessly. My point is that even if you are clever and internet-savvy, you can get caught out. As for not needing a firewall - you sure about that? These days most people have a hardware firewall in their router. But I wouldn't like to go without that.AVG doesn't take long to update at all - maybe 5 seconds max for me. I think you can set it to scan recently-changed files (or something) on startup. That's quite slow.
