spaceman
Since most of the ETs are like broken, I wonder if you send your frame for heat treatment, would the integrity/strength of the frame be as good as new?I think it's possible, provided you know what grade of alu the frame tubings are, the temperature of the furnace, the time left in the furnace, and what type of cooling method and how long the cooling time. TheMunn
Nice! What gear ratio are you running?Pretty sure its 22-18And to your other post, nah cant be bothered with treating it. cai
I never knew Ashton did these, looks lush.I'm a metal worker by trade so i'll just weld her up should se crack...Doesn't welding just make alu frames worse? Or is this a steel frame?
spaceman
It's an alu frame. From what I studied, welding makes the area around welds weak? The heat from the welding changes the properties of the metal.Besides, if it were to crack, you would know that it has reached its fatigue life. Welding it back is fine, but some other parts might crack instead. Not being a bad-mouth here, but I did consider welding my favourite alu street-trials frame when it snapped. Now it's hanging in my store-room.
