Sabiot
Thats gunna be real hard to ride on I'd wager man. The frame doesnt slope down much which means if you mess up on an endo, bunny hop (pretty much anything) you're gunna hit the family jewels. I never saw a more terrified face than the first time my gf saw me do an endo and I nearly sacked myself. My bike is NOT a trials bike, but it does the job well enough. To be honest I don't know what most of these guys ride in terms of weight. But my frame is just under 5 pounds (2.2kg I think) and the rest of the bike I wouldnt wager is any more than another 5 pounds. This is about 10 total. You said yours was 15kg? That makes your bike more than 3 times as heavy as mine. I think it might be a problem. I personally would suggest another one. But I mean, why not give everything a shot now and see how you like it right? No sense wasting $1,000 and then finding out you hate trials. James Shields
right, i ride a base ta26 and the frame is relatively light, but to avoid the seat problem you have i used an angle grinder to cut the part that the seat post goes into and created a trials mini seat ! (the cheap alternative to a buying a monty one). i think that you are goin to have quite a few problems due to the fact that your frame is really high around the top tube, so it will be hard to manouver, i would suggest loosing some of the heavy parts and replacin them with lighter more trials specific? also i now ride stock but for learining i rode a 20" so if you find you have to many problems id suggest a cheap 20" ?? just an idea, james. sstein
I got into trials on a peice of shit Silverfox frame. It was quite strong and only had a 14" seat tube, but was made of steel so weighed an absolute ton. I then did a bit on an azonic DS1 before I finally built a trials bike. You know what I learnt, trials is easier on a trials bike but it is better to find out if you like it on whatever you are used to riding. Just go out and try it and try to avoid seat to testicle contact
otaylor38
your bike does seem to be very heavy, why dont you go to your local bike shop and pretend that you have the intent in buying a bike that may suit you better. then they may let you ride it. see what you think of the bike and then shop around in other shops and maybe ebay and see how cheap you can get one.you would be surprised how little you have to spend to get a decent trials bike.just a thought, although it is abit harsh on the bike shop. sstein
That is not the best idea I have heard. If you do that you will not find your LBS at all helpful when you need them in the future. If you buy a bike from them they will often do you deals on other parts and maybe even help you sort out any problems for free. If you go to them, they help you find the right bike for you and then you buy it from somewhere else they will not be that willing to help you out in future.
