Cad/ Designing Competition

This might be a stupid idea, but there seem to be a lot of people on here with designing talent, good ideas and the ability to use CAD software...

I propose anyone with an idea makes a CAD model of it and posts up a few screenshots on here. Then we can have a vote, see who's idea is the most inovative, thought out the best and makes best use of the cad software.

It could be any component for a trials bike, or any bike really... the more imaginitive the better, but try to keep it realistic!

3. Warez Minimum Penalty - 1 Warning Point

Do not post information or requests for illegal software, downloads, TV shows etc. This includes requesting serials or cracks.

Try asking your school if they are able to give/lend you a copy. They'll often be willing to burn you a disc with it on (maybe for the cost of the disc) if their licenses allow :)

What FEA package are you using? I had a student this year analyse the stress in a bicycle wheel using Abaqus - he took it several notches beyond the 2D simulation in 'The Bicycle Wheel' by Jobst Brandt :)... Some boundary condition issues in setting prestress in the spokes though. I built a proMechanica model of the same thing years ago and it worked very well, but won't deal with plastic deformation...

Next year I'll see about modeling the stress relieving process (Plastic deformation in the spoke/hub interface) for another project :).

that sounds awesome...! can we see the proMechanica model?
