Good pads + grind = good brake for all conditions

Any pads + tar = very grabby brake, no modulation, terrible in the wet, can stick on if you're not careful, requires constant reapplying of tar etc.

Stop over-simplifying things.

Good pads + grind = good brake for all conditions until it gets dirty which it will when you use it - either from grind wear or from pad wear or from dust. I prefer to apply tar once a ride which takes like 10 seconds rather than clean my rim all the time which takes much much longer. If your pads are sticking to the rim, you've obviously used too much. Same applies to modulation, if you don't have it, use less tar.

I actually can't believe people could give a shit about him using tar. Get a life...

I don't think its the fact he's using tar, but someone pointed out he showed a clip with him applying tar right next to the pad name clip. Doesn't really show that the pads work, but that tar works well with yet another set of pads, effectively making them pretty average. If he'd been there polishing his rim or showing how clean/smooth it was and they still performed the same... it'd have been a completely different kind of advert for the pads.

Riding was pretty impressive, theres no way i can do any of that, especially now i'm getting on a bit :( Arthritis will be the next thing for me
