Good advice I received:

Its a lot to pay back but once working just let it come out of your account etc and forget about it. There is no point what so ever in paying back anything more than the minimum they require each month.

student loan is the lowest interest on any loan you'll ever get.

Instead of paying more back each month, put any extra/spare money into a savings account toward a house/flat mortgage.

Why pay more back on student loan to then borrow for a house at higher interest later, it just doesn't make sense.

Really can't decided where to go and only have till the 5th of may to decide.

Between London Queen mary and Portsmouth.

London I would more than likly live at home because its only a short commute.

Portsmouth would be living away from home, a few of my college mates are going there.

Is living in halls good? Bit worried about sharing a kitchen if I can't get a personal study.

Thanks

Matt

Also what about cars at uni. Would I be able to take a car or not?

everyone says halls are the best idea for the first year, it's much more social than living alone as well.

sharing a kitchen, you'll be fine, sharing bathrooms would be a bigger concern.

and there's not much point in taking a car if you go to Portsmouth, it's all within walking distance.

In my flat there's 2 showers to 18 people and I have NEVER in the 3 terms I've been here had to wait for one.

Does everbody not bother washing then?

I've been to 3 of my best mates Uni's. Loughborough, Cambridge an Liverpool. Each of their halls are absolutely filthy, with the kitchens having piles of washing up that nobodys willing to do. I may have been unlucky but really does every Uni student live in squalor?

I'm fairly sure everyone here maintains acceptable hygiene levels.

I wouldn't say it's filthy here. Washing piles up of course, but what the hell do you expect from a bunch of teenagers who are living away from home for the first time in their lives?

Soon as I use it I wash it, that way I don't have to remember to do it later. We all did that, worked fine, apart from the token f**ktard who uses everyone's shit and leaves it out.

Halls still dominated though, even though I had a fairly shitty mix of people, and got dicked around a lot. The +ives outweigh the -ives by faaaar.
