kid creole
Hi i bought a magura Louise fr from ebay and it arrived this morning , it looks good and is in good condition so i fitted the rotor and put the caliper on my forks but the rotor is hiting the back of the caliper as if its to big.it is a 180mm magura sl rotor that is supposed to go with the brake but it hits, i tried a 160mm rotor but it only comes half way up the pads so i think the caliper is defiently 180mm like it was listed as.I've got echo control forks and I've had a 180mm mono trial which worked fine so i don't think the disk tabs welded wrong.please helpthis is what the brake looks like
Alex Dark
sounds liek the disc is the wrong shape> so therefore not the oem one
psycholist
Chances are you need a brake adaptor to take the caliper out the extra centimeter it needs to get from fitting a 160mm disk (Standard size) to fitting a 180mm... They're under a fiver a go, so no big deal.
kid creole
i dont think that will work, i tried the brake on some onza tufguy forks i have and the brake works fine and has a few mm clearance to spin, on my control forks it can hardly spin at all so it must be the disk tab thats welded wrong i think. Walleee
How much does it hit? does it still spin?My louise FR disc rubbed metal to metal but it's still spun. If that's the case just file a little off the outside, mine just made an annoying noise more than anything.
basher
New forks or new disk is your option. Measure from the centre of the disk to the very edge and when you buy a new one ask it to be measure as although they should be the same 180 there will be slight differences between models and makes. Walleee
As far as I remember there isn't, but my bike is a few hundred miles away right now so I'm not 100% sure. if there is anything it'll be reach adjustment but I'm 90% sure there isn't. NVWOCI WVS
just take the edge off your rotor on a metal lathe? or if you aren't the engineery type get the angle grinder out.
psycholist
Have a look for a well hidden 2mm grub screw near the lever pivot - I think Maguras of this type have a reach adjustment there...
