I earn roughly £100 a week, i spend roughly £20 + rent that I pay to my parents.

All I have coming out of my account are one monthly direct debit for my phone and thats only £20 a month.

In the period since I started work (not even a year) I have bought a 350D a couple of lenses, tripod etc, an iPod and just bought myself a laptop.

On top of all that I also am quite happy with the amount I have saved so far for uni.

Its not hard, and I work in a pub so its not an office job its fun, pays averagely and the people there are awesome.

for an electrician which im doing is 4 year. if your paying the fees its 3 terms. thats 1500 quid a year over 4 years thats 6 thousand pounds. thats alot when you could do it free. also as a first year apprentice youd be on same money as evans im on around 10 k a year. i love my jobs its fun doing marinas and sites.

Was "12 miles" a typo or something? I do that in a day if I want to go ride Cantelowes, and I don't even think about it. It takes 30mins on my BMX to get there, and it's f**king easy. 12 miles on a roadbike should take you no time at all, so saying "I do 12 miles a week, maybe even 24" is a bit ridiculous. I rode to Rom skatepark and back on my BMX, that was a round trip of 35 miles. Took an hour and a half there, and an hour back...

No, i said it was an absolute minimum. It;s to work and back and usually takes me around 12-16 mins each way. It shows that i actually use it. Gotta factor in that i ride in, work for 3 or 6 hours and ride back, just makes it seem erm, longer, cos i'm doing quite a bit of physical work/rushing around inbetween then. Some weeks i've done a good 60 miles.

Im happy for you that you want to just work and leave your life on hold for now, but can you just stop posting, then hopefully this topic will get closed.

Such a lot o shit you have been speaking in this topic and you just seem to have convinced your self that you are right and you are just letting everyone elses comments pass you by. You need to get a grip and think about what your doing.

On the other hand, i feel slightly sorry for you as alot o folk seem to be using this to abuse you, just to appear cool, by joining in the 'slagging' so i hope you dont beat yourself up over some internet forums comments.

Basically, do what you want to do, FYI i think your doing the stupidest thing you could do....college or such is a doss if u put some effort in. YOU just need to realise the following things:

• You get out of life what you put in (so if u put f**k all in, as your doin, you will get f**k all out of it)
• Work hard and play hard...so if you work hard at college, and play hard with them people at college.
• College and uni is a social networking thing just as much as learning a career.
• Stop posting your whole life on TF, jesus, its an internet forum, you need to live your own life and stop worryin what people might think on here

Seriously, listen to those that have been there and done it, or those that took a different path and succeeded.

I'm stuck in epic fail at the moment, but that's down to bad luck - the last company I worked for went bust... I had loads of prospects there too. Now I'm stuck in a town that has huge unemployment problems (It's crazy high on the national list of shite areas). Anyway, that isn't the point, the point is that you can get education for free and give yourself the best possible chance in life rather than paying loads for it later or deciding after 2 years to not even bother.

It's a dog eat dog world and you're gonna need everything you can get - my diploma in programming isn't worth shit anymore, the languages are old and people have better qualifications - if I had enough money I'd go back now or if I'd have known how it would turn out for me I'd be at Uni now working my arse off.

Please, please, please don't make this mistake - I tell my partners kids all the time about this, almost obsessively. Her son Jack who's 13 is coming up to his GCSE's and often moans and says he can't be bothered but I really push them. I messed up at school, so much so I'm not gonna post what I got. I half made up for it at College, but not enough.

The idea of work may seem great, loads of money etc... But you gotta think long term! When you get bored of that job, which you will pretty quickly, you'll need something better than the next guy to move up in the world. Do you really want to hand over a few £k in 5 years when you can get most of it free now?

You're young, enjoy your life and get yourself more knowledge and skills before you dive into the world of full time work!

Oh lol. I don't just ride to work you know , school (not any more though, the hooded youths found out my bikes a 1.2kish build), mates houses etc etc.

I shall say no more on this, and if you want Mark, or any other man of power, you may close this. I know what i'm doing isn't a great idea but the jobs in front of me. To sum it up, i see it as a gap year or two just as a break and hopefully, by the time i feel like leaving, i would have manned up from working 40 hours a week and will have my head screwed on enough to ACTUALLY do the work i'm set at college.

Travis, final point before everyone stfus. I don't respond to most peoples stuff because they don't know about what's going on enough for me to think they're right. They don't know every aspect, reason etc for me doing this, and that's cos i haven't told them probably. But meh.

My mums friends husband works in the local college, he's head of department for motor mechanics, so i can get a place there quite easily. Was given an unconditional place there last year but i chose to go to 6th form at my school.

Sometimes it's all about connections.
