bikeperson45
Decided to go with stock and cant seem to find any information on this bike anywhere: http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/product.php?id=10274I cant find any reviews, pics etc. Anyone had any experience it, I know it's new for 2008, but I thought there would have been more reviews. Also, do you think it would last a while, at least a year? Thanks
Captain Scarlet
Forget a year mate, look after it and it will last years. As for starting off it is probably the best value 26" trials bike about, as well as a good name like Onza on it.To be honest if your talking Onza its a perfect starter bike. cai
The back hub may die? (most onza do)And upgrade to better v-brakes, like Avid Ulitimates or SD7's with decent pads. Will be good then
bikeperson45
Cooleo. Don't mind replacing a few bits and bobs, thats part of the fun anyway.I just wanted to check since theres no reviews or nothin. Thanks for replys!Random Fact: You don't find Chuck Norris, Chuck Norris finds you
AdamR28
The back hub may die? (most onza do)The rear hub, in my opinion, is one of the best features of the Spyrogyra - it is a screw on model with a freewheel on the hub, so there is no freehub to break (Which can be a common issue on budget complete bikes.)Should the freewheel break then it's easy to replace and there's no need for a new wheelbuild either! Muel
Honestly, I'd never buy one. The geo is crap, the frame is basically a T-Rapter, which is heavy, has pretty horrid geometry and has a massive seat tube. The rest of the parts on it will be pretty rubbish in quality.I think you'd be making a big mistake buying one, and you would do much better to get a second hand bike from ebay, such as a T-Rex, as they are pretty nice to ride, and if you buy second hand, you get a much, much better bike for your money. For £450 you could either get a new bike that has a pretty rubbish spec, and a frame that isn't very good, or you could buy a second hand bike with a super spec and a really nice frame, such as anything from Deng. Muel
shutup muel it's not a bad bike It's a T-Rapter with a pretty naff spec. For the price it's pretty good actually. I'd rather have a second hand T-Rex though.

T-Raptor/Spyrogyra geo is very close to an Ashton Justice by the way.

T-Raptor/Spyrogyra geo is very close to an Ashton Justice by the way.exactly..short frame, medium length chain stays, around zero bb ...perfect for a beginner...my mates just got a t-raptor and i really like it....personal choice i suppose but i think they're sweet frames for the money

T-Raptor/Spyrogyra geo is very close to an Ashton Justice by the way.I thought it had a 1050 wheelbase or something like, it would be fine to learn the basics and have fun on, which is what your after. But you will probably find that you will upgrade every part on the bike after a year or so, and you would probably do better to buy a second hand bike that has had everything done already. But then again, a second hand bike wouldn't be in as good condition, so you would probably have to replace the work bits anyway...It's up to you matey, I've given my views. It would be a good bike to learn the basics on and have some fun.

I'm no star on a trails bike but I love messing about on mine. And I've had the choice of any of the proto types, Limeys etc. If your just getting into it you will have more fun on a bike with a geo like that. We didn't just randomly make that geo, We did it for a reason. For beginners! If fact I'm just gonna go and play on mine now

Or do you think I'm better sticking with the Spyrogyra? Did you have as hard a time choosing between stock and mod? Thanks again! Muel
I'm 5'10 and I ride Mod, but it's purely a personal thing, you need to ride both to test them out before you can decide.
