Avid Juicy 7

So i got my juicy 7 last monday and have ridden everyday since then and the brake still sucked.

Then i decided to pour water all over it and the brake suddenly started to be freakin awsome. But after about 10 minutes its power starts to fade and it loses hold, also when its wet it makes a horrible screetch.

So basically, will the brake eventually get to the point where i dont need to keep pouring water on it to keep power and will it quiet down a little??

Thanks

Ian

sounds like you have contaminated your disc and/or your pads.

my hope did that so i bought some new pads and cleaned up the rotor with white spirits and now its all good. i still think hopes are shit though lol. but thats another story.

avid all the way.

cheers

My Juicy 7 took ages to bed in (BB7s take no time at all) and it still noticeably more grabby in the wet. I don't really know why but it's plenty powerful in the dry so I have no complaints.

You might have contaminated it though - mine is silent. Clean the rotor with soapy water and burn the pads on the hob (Y)

The thing is, if there's any contamination on the pads, it'll be on the rotor and vice versa. If you only clean either the pads OR the rotor, they'll just contaminate each other again. Just clean both at the same time, it doesn't take long.

smear slimy, gritty mud all over your rotor and ride along with the brake on lightly until all the mud has worn off the braking surface, repeat this a few times the clean it off with fresh water. Honestly the quickest, most effective way to make a shit brake amazing!

Yeah cuz i dont see how i could have contaminated either the pads or the rotor cuz i was wearn gloves when i up the rotor on so its never been touched, i will try cleaning it in soapy water though.

Still if it only takes a little water to make it awsome i dont see how it could be contamination.

Either way ill keep pouring water on it and hope she beds in soon.

I have the worst luck with bike parts!!

Cheers,

Ian
