Petition For A Trials Park In Hampshire

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I was talking to dave anscombe(mr koxx) today about trying to get the local council(s) to build us a trials park.

Dave has had 4 fines in the last 4 days which would be understandable if there was a trials park or somewhere that we were allowed to ride near by.

But there isnt.

I've been told that southwest trians would build/help build us one because we keep on riding outside there station so i thought i might as well start up a petition.

Dave will be getting on to winchester council soon and i should hopefully be getting on to eastleigh council tommorrow.

Obviously a petition would help our 'campaign' so im looking for around 500 signatures, so sign it yourself, get your family to sign it and get ALL of your freinds to sign it (Y)

Please sign it only takes 2 minutes

The petition

thanks for your support

Signed it.

Not trying to be a party pooper, but if my/other locals experience with various governing bodys is anything to go by - theres not much chance in you succeeding. The number of meetings, petitions, letters and discussions, regarding a trials park around here, there have been are astronomical. We are no closer to getting one that we would have been if we sat around and did nothing.

Worth a try though I suppose.

Edited so it makes sence.

yeah i see where your coming from but surely if we got all of the people u had a meeting or whatever with together with people form down our end then weve got a much higher chance of succeeding ?

also if anyone else from around the hampshire area could get together there councils or other peopley people to speak to us, that would be a great help.

It's a good idea to point out that there will be a benefit to the local economy thanks to more visitors to the area if this is built. If you petition local hostels/B&B's/Hotels on this you might even get some corporate interest. Mostly work on the basis that even though trials riders are a very small percentage of the population, they have been proven to be willing to travel long distances to ride trials. Adding a park will lead many trials riders to end up in that area (An opportunity to legally ride your bike on custom designed obstacles) - how likely are you to go to Hampshire to ride trials knowing loads of the locals are being fined for doing so? That's a loss in income in food, drink and accommodation to those providing them in the area. The potential income they could make from those who want to stay overnight is considerable - all they have to do is offer safe, secure bike storage.

Country parks are good people to ask... as they started building one in a country park near me... Less liability that way too as the area is covered for cycling etc. Probably more chance of getting natty etc, than there is urban. Also, more chance if you arrange to do the organisation yourselves, as councils wont be bothered with that kind of thing, too much hassle for them. Pro-riders onside is always a good thing to have. Do you have any areas earmarked that you think would be good for it to be placed?

You guys have any idea how much a skate park/ trials park costs a council to build?

Basically, if you approach the council and say, can i have a trials park, its easy for them to say no. If you have all of this planned for them, its easier for them to say yes...

Put a link to this in the hampshire comps thread, and ask mowgli if he'd be able to put a link on the comps site too...
