I made a flash game!

You must read the rules

or just click the face's right eye

to continue onto the game.

Its easy at the start, but it does get a bit tricky :P

Apologies about the offensive completion screen (get to 120 seconds), but that was my tutor's idea!

knock yourselves out, anyway. Once I get some more time I'll do a proper site and I'll do some more games.

enjoy

Nice. :)

Actionscript 2 or 3?

Doing 3 at work now, so much for fun and rewarding then any other language i've done so far, just a shame its so f**king complicated at times. :(

2

I can't do 3 at the moment. I plan on buying some books about it though. Its supposed to be a lot different to 2 though :(

Game seems pretty good. I have no idea how to use actionscript so seems impressive.

If I offered any advice though, based on what Simon says, forget ActionScript 2, do your new site with 3. Guess thats pretty obvious though :P

Use packages and classes too, buy yourself the o'reilly book, personally i've got the cookbook and essential actionscript 3, both have been used so much over the past few weeks.

But yes, as3 is vastly different to as2, but probably easy enough to adapt to.

Ok

well, when I get some more money I'll look for books. Its in AS2 for now, but there's only a tiny bit (not including the game) so it won't take long to update.

The site's coming on, its at here but the file manager takes a moment to update, meaning the version you're likely to see isn't the right one, lol. It gives you an idea of the style though.

You can create that fade effect you have on the buttons using JavaScript, check out scriptaculous or mootools. The advantage is that the resulting HTML will be more search engine friendly, and more accessible to your users... Personally I'd only use flash where there is absolutely no alternative (games, etc) - but I guess thats personal preference :turned:

Looks fine in Firefox, in IE7 there is a random gap between the second to last and last button. Thought it was going to be a completely flash driven site? That navigation as Tom has said can be done in Javascript in about 5 minutes. :)

what the shite...?

well, in my firefox it doesn't work.

I could do a fully flash site but cba right now. Plus it would be AS2, and plus, I don't know that many fancy tricks in flash just yet.

I don't know any javascript! AS is supposed to be very similar though. :S

And I was just trying to make it more valid and I made the gaps appear. Sorted it now, but its still not valid. How important is validity even?

Arse. Now the banner and other part has disappeared.
