Virgin Media Are Bad?

So if people don't pay virgin money to allow their site through to virgin customers then their users won't see the page as fast?

Sounds pretty gay to be honest, especially if every provider starts doing it. The forum would have to pay every ISP in order to keep it fast for everyone. Plus paying for the domain and hosting.

I guess virgin are hoping that being the first to start doing this sites will pay virgin money and not want to do the same for anyone else which sees users moving to virgin in order to get the fast speeds. This will only be a big problem if every ISP do it, until then, the person this'll be a problem for is virgin as they see their customers leave.

The thing is this is Virgin doing it, not 'the internet' - there is no restriction on the internet on how fast it can transmit data, so there's no reason for other ISPs to start doing it, its not like they're having to pay more to keep their sites running quickly (well, technically they do but its not really relevant here)

All that will happen will be virgin will lose customers, they'll move over to any ISP thats not restricted, those ISPs will gain and therefore want to keep their customers and not impose restrictions, virgin will realise they shot themselves in the foot, and hopefully every other ISP will learn from their mistakes.

As an example.

Say Virgin came along and asked me for £X per year to keep TF running fast for their users. I'd say '**** off'. Then I'd imagine any addicted TF users on Virgin would quickly think about leaving Virgin for a decent ISP.

If every smaller scale site did the same... well, Virgin would be pretty f**ked.

As if Virgin media wasnt as slow as shit half the time anyway.

Wouldnt it also be pretty hard to do, contacting every single website in the world and asking them for money on the off chance that you happen to want full speed access to it?

Like Tom said, as if they dont rape us with really low speeds during peak times and then even lower because a site hasnt paid for us to gain full speed access, then people will move to different ISP's.

I didn't have sound on for the first 30 seconds. I thought there was gonna be some kind of gang bang lo

lol yeh i was kinda thinking the same thing, some random chick with big tits just pops up on the screen

Its just pure greed, when Virgin first took over NTL:Telewest there was all the crap with sky and people wanting to change over. Virgin just rolled over and licked the customers arses offering V+ etc. Surely they will not put this into practice. Also when they first took over they said that they wouldn't limit their internet access but at peak times the download rate gets tapped or something. Not totally sure on that one but it came up a while ago.

“this net neutrality thing is a load of bollocks.” is hardly something sensible and reputable for the chief executive of a massive company to say is it? People will think its run by monkeys
