Radfax
Take of your cranks and bb, clean them, lube and refit making sure the crank bolts are tourqued at 310 in-lbs (35 Nm). do the same with the pedals and BB.If you are still getting the grinding/cracking noise you know its new bb time! chris H
I would make sure your bb is tight if you go to the side you tigheten it and check that its not loose with your fingers!Clean it louds so you can see it and make sure there are no cracks! They are very easy to crack.
forteh
Sounds like a cracked ball, if its a creaking noise its more likely to be loose cranks or BB but in my experience a cracking noise is dead balls. Take the BB out and turn it by hand whilst holding the shell, you should be able to feel a notch or roughness when it makes the noise

James Shields
hi, i've had the same problem, but only lately, i have checked the cranks and everything, they were fine, but when i took the bb out and played with it, it was grinding and horrible so,i just made it easy for myself and bought a new one . . . Andeee
Take it out. Clean the b.b and shell. Whack some grease in and tighten it not overtight.
dantpro
Sounds asthough your bottom bracket is on its way out. [possibly split]Best off buy a brand new one instead of it snapping on you like mine did, while doing a gap.BUY A NEW ONE!!

Revolver
I bet your bearings are f**ked. Don't keep riding it unless you have to, it will only get worse and then sieze. I should know .
