New Bars Advice

Howdo, this is going to sound pretty daft, but it's best to check.

I have 2007 Monty TI bars, they are perfect for me, I absolutely love them, but I recently got some new grips, stiffer ones, so I put 10mm of old handlebar in each end and I love them even more.

Are there any bars that are the exact same geo as TIs, but 10-15mm extra on either side? I am liking the look of the white Try-All Rage bars. :-

Also, how much could I get for my TIs, realistically?

£35-£40 if it came to selling them.

I've got the same bars and I'm using extenders that a friend of a friend made.

Apparently the old try-all rage bars are snappy happy? I can't really see it myself, but I wouldn't/haven't risked it because I would like to reach old age with an intact face.

Hmm, I think I'll try some better extenders first, I need to make some sort of expanding wedge type thingy, that doesn't weigh too much...

I've heard of pieces of dowell being hammered into them, then wrapped in tape, I don't fancy it myself.

I, have a cunning plan however. My Dad works on a lathe, and works with stainless steel and some super high grade plastic stuff. I'll sketch some stuff out and see if he can do it.

Next time I'll think more before posting a topic. :$ Thanks for the speedy replies guys.

i'm in a pretty similar situation! i'm borrowing some monty ti bars of a mate....and i'm waiting till the end of the month when the new trialtech bars should be out...740mm wide, but with slightly less rise...

extension wise...i've got some old outland bar plugs that came with some XC bars. They're basically a cylinder of Al cut diagonally with a thread through the middle. As you do up the bolt, the two halves slide past each other (on the diagonal cut) and get wedged in the bar. Just cut the end of some other bars and put over the top and you'd have a nice extension (Y)

it makes a big difference, as I have established already by putting the pieces of old bar inside the grips, but they move a lot.

Still, thanks for your truely helpful post. That answered my question really well.

Viz pro700 bars are the same geo but 28inch, and if you wait about a month longer there will be some more bars that are the exact same geo but 29inch wide on the market.

Cheers guys, but I have my own extenders sketched up, hopefully my Dad will get a chance to make them some time soon. I'll revive this topic by posting pictures up when they're done.

Trials uk (contact no: 07841621612) are expecting a batch of the newer Viz Pro700 riser bars (same geo but 29in wide) hopefully next friday. same colours as before but with an added dayglow yellow colour will stand out like a sore thumb :S .
