matt middler
At the moment I have an 18t on the rear and 22t on the front, but out riding on Sunday I just couldnt get enough power through the pedal kicks. If I were to get a 17t would I notice much difference or shoud I just go for a 16t?
froob
17 and 16 tooth sprockets will make it harder to get power down.I'd go for 22 on front and 19 on back personally
Peperami
Erm, why do you need that much power?! Most pros run 18/16 or 18/15... im running 16/14 and it feels fine.On a 22 i was running a 19t, and found that a bit hard, especially for natural... matt middler
I don't mean I couldn't get enough power because it was to hard to pedal, it was too light. so I want something to make it a bit harder.
Karl Butcher
If you go down one on the rear it might help! i run 18-14 it feels really nice!
monkeyseemonkeydo
Try it and see? Whatever you end up with you'll get used to it. I'm currently running 18/13 on my Inspired and it felt super stiff to start with but within a couple of hours I got used to it and can still back wheel, gap and sidehop just as well as before. Greetings
22:18 is very heavy. If you want to learn to gap properly, you should use a lighter ratio. Gap with your body, not just by pressing the pedal.
sstein
It all depends on wheel size, a gear ratio on a 26'' will feel much easier on a 20''. Also it is important to use what you feel comfertable with, don't let anyone tell you that your gearing is totally wrong if it is right for you. I use 22:17 and it works for me, though might change to 22:19. If you are really noticing that you need more power though go for the 2 tooth difference as with one tooth you won't notice any real change. Some people prefer 22:17 which is even harder, Now running 18:15 which is the same as 22:18. Its all really down to personal prefference.
