JT!
When i hold the front brake on (disc) and push the wheel forward and back i hear a clunking. I thought it was obviously the rotor bolts had come loose like last time. But they were all tight. Cheaked my headset, front wheel, disc calipar. Everything. What could it be? Lawnmowerman
Pads moving inside the caliper.
Muel
You tend to get a bit of this when your brake gets a bit old, pads moving in the caliper, theres nothing you can do really.I'd say this was the cause if you have checked all you say you have. If you hold the rotor with your fingers touching the caliper and rock the bike back and forth with the brake locked, you'll be able to feel any play.EDIT: Lawnmowerman was too fast. Mat Smith!
take your forks out, check them over and then put them back in, if it still happens its most likely your disk.Matx
Danny Kearns
This may sound stupid...But is your crown race on your forks ? I had this problem when i forgot put my crown race on.

Guest
It's not the pad, i hold the brake on very tight and it still does it.It might not matter depending on the brake your using, but I know I have a tiny bit of play in my disc from where the pad's move inside the caliper, regardless of how hard I pull the lever. If the brake 'shoe' (or is backing a better term?) is deformed it will move a little, does it happn if you turn the bars to 90 degrees and rock the bike back and forth? JT!
does it happn if you turn the bars to 90 degrees and rock the bike back and forth?Nope. I'm really sure it's not the pads moving, as the back wheel doesn't do it, and it's the same brake, hope mono trial.
ogre
topcap/starnut? hub bolts? spokes?
JT!
topcap/starnut? hub bolts? spokes? It's definatly not headset related, it's something going on down on the wheel. Wheels all true and everything so i can't see it being the spokes. Tightend the hub bolts.
Dan6061
Spokes would still creak wether it's tru or not.Checked that al the spokes are tight? - If you squeeze them, do they move at all?I have my spokes so they don't move at all. Probably not good for the wheel, but it's strong, and I've never had mojor problems with it.

JT!
After i was 100 sure it wasn't, it was the pads moving. :$
spaceman
Similar thing happened to me. Checked headset, and calipers - nothing. Rode for 15 minutes like a retard with my head down just to find out the exact source of the sound. Turns out it was the bearing on the front hub.
