wanna be trials rider
ok,ive looked at the search forum and i cant find a topic on it so here it goes!!!! i used to run a mag33 on a smooth dx32 with original black pads....it was shite!!!! so i gave the rim a grind and that seemed to improve the stopping power for a while but bloody hell...how quick do them pads wear! within 2hours of riding i was turning the pad adjuster for all it was worth.on closer inspection the bloody pad was way off square, the set up had moved.i started to reset th brake and slipped with the allan key ripping the hose out so now having cursed enough i am thinking of v-brake set up i know a few of you use them, how are they what combo do you use shimano or avid etc etc i apologise if this has been asked already but its hard to ride a trials bike with no back break!!!! cheers for reading

Muel
whats your set up?? by the way your bike looks shit hot must o cost you a pretty penny!!!!Cheers, but it didn't cost as much as you'd think, £700 so far, as I bought it second hand and changed a few parts on it.My brothers T-Lite has a maggy that I have just pimped for him.Braided Hosing from Supercycles. £16 posted. (Brilliant stuff).Water Bleed.Metal TPA and Booster spacers from Edd Potts. £9.Neco Yellows. £10.RB Booster. £12 second hand.Light/Medium grind. It works brilliantly. If I were you, I'd get a set of Neco Yellows, (best pads I have ever owned), and a medium grind, and a water bleed. Then you can add stuff in, like a booster if it needs one, and a metal TPA if you strip the plastic one.It is the best Maggy I have ever used, but I still hate it. It was a sideline project to prove to myself more than anything, that discs are bestest.
Peperami
From whats happened to your maggy it sounds like you'd f**k a vee up if you had one too... just set the maggy up square and tight with some decent pads and you'll be fine. stritm0nkey
so i gave the rim a grind and that seemed to improve the stopping power for a while but bloody hell...how quick do them pads wear!I think you ve grinded the rim too sharp, thus causing the fast wear... Pitbullking69
Do not get a V set up! stick with maggies because if you havent already whipped out, you will with V's and believe me its not pretty. if you havent threaded your calliper from ripping the hosing out just get your hosing cut down and then re-bled. Ill also recomend plazmatic pads on a nice grind, should sort thee out Thanks, mike

Simpson
Comon give him a break hes new to the forum. As far as he's conserned a good Vee is what you get standard on Saracens... be more usefull and explain more to him before taking the piss?A Vee can be as good as / better than a maggie depending on your opinion. Comon Vee's used in trials are XTR Arms, and CNC'ed backed Vee pads.
