Mike Winton.
5 year warranty but i think you may havbe voided it, just lie:)
maxwellduryea
...they will be able to tell if you radial laced it, but give it a try:)i have found that if youre honest with them, you usually have a better chance of getting it warrantied. dont play games with them. Muel
I just wouldn't mention it, strip the wheel down and get in tough, they will probably ask you to send the hub off to them, in which case you'd need to despoke it anyway. If they bring it up, tell them the truth. eskimo
They'd notice anyway as the spokes would of dug in.Good luck with that, will you be using King products again?
NVWOCI WVS
crack and flange in the same title
_Owen.
Im sure king warranty is 10 years! Give the importer (or whoever) a ring and see what they say! good luckOwen
maxwellduryea
not when he clearly voided the warranty. they will look at the hub, see that it wasnt laced 2x or 3x, etc, and say, "oh, laced radially, bummer"...every time a king product fails its because the user used it inappropriately. every time. _Owen.
Unless they clearly told you that you cannt lace radially when you bought the hub, surely they cannot say anything. A radial build isnt a bodge or anything, so surely It cannot void warrenty! Owen
maxwellduryea
And have you read the terms of use included with all King products? Or do you just buy all of it second-hand?It DOES say it will void the warranty in the terms of use.
Shaun H
Why do people keep thinking he's laced it radially. He said he only laced it 2x on the non-drive side and was worried that it may void the warranty.I think you'll be ok mate, as Eskimo said, they can tell how it's been laced (any fool can) by the marks the spokes will have left behind.every time a king product fails its because the user used it inappropriately. every time.Quite a few people have cracked flanges on their Kings and I imagine most of them are built 3x.A real testament to how long they can last and how many wheelbuilds they'll go through is the age of Tunni's King's shell....... theno1woody
i cracked my rear hub the other week!the warranty is 5yrs but you WILL need proof of purchase!best thing to do is strip down the wheel, remove the hub body(so they dont see the tell tale trials abuse marks on the hub shell!!) and send it back to Evolution direct or through your local king stockist.Do NOT mention trials, do not say anything about the spoke lacing unless asked!i did all of the above and received a new hub shell, in fact because they didnt have any classics they sent me an ISO instead!woody
JonMack
If anyone wants a black 36h classic hub shell let me know, I've got one spare.
Greetings
every time a king product fails its because the user used it inappropriately. every time.Bollocks. If that was true, nobody would ever be able to make use of the warranty because it would always be void due to inappropriate use.I know quite a few people who broke their hubs, sent them back to King and had them fixed for free. Netherking
crack and flange in the same title HAHA, i'm done the same! i got it second hand thou so i'm not to worried. got my self a Pro 2but about the crack, my cracked hub is still beening used by my little brother and it's been fine for agers now (8-10 months) bit of a shame though harry
maxwellduryea
well when you send a cracked body in with apparent wrong lacing, and trials abuse ( notched freehub body, ringdrive and spring foooked, etc) they are going to know it was used for trials. and guess what. that voids the warranty. so if you lace it correctly and dont abuse it, then you, if it has a crack and they cant (assume) that you used it for trials, then you, they are great about hooking people up with new shells. Muel
Or just buy JonMacks shell and do it yourself. They aren't super expensive you know.

dave33
why would king sponsor trials riders then ?
ogre
why would king sponsor trials riders then ?prety sure they don't. tunni probably bought his outa' his own dolla. trials voids king warenty? thats prety stupid, *durr lets not give a high e.p hub to a market that demands high ep hubs, durr*
Dan Clark
Probably because their hubs are designed for XC use, not for the use of trials riders completely raping them. They did use to warranty trials use and even offer a trials spring, but trials riders kept ruining the freehubs which aren't designed for trials use.I'd say it's pretty fair that they don't warranty trials usage. It's not really that different from say trials riders using super light carbon race bars because they want to save weight, then getting all pissy and demanding warranties when they snapped, they aren't designed for trials, same as King hubs. maxwellduryea
thats the truth.also, they do sponsor trials riders.Ryan Leech rocks a rear king classic:)
Gandalf the Yellow
evolution imports are a bunch of flanges, good luck getting it warrantied.worse bunch of people i've dealt with ever, poor attitude and just pretty rude most of the time.steveProbably because their hubs are designed for XC use, not for the use of trials riders completely raping them. Dan Clark
And I'm sure King replaced them all quibble free. From what I've heard, King themselves are lovely people, but Evolution are mostly idiots, just contact King USA and send it back directly to them. When I used to work in a bike shop, we phoned up Evolution to inquire about buying 4 King headsets for staff, and whether they would offer a discount, the person on the phone wasn't sure whether they stocked King stuff.Avoid Evolution.
