Joe Seddons New Onza Triad Paint Job

Joe likes drilling but I dont think he is the type of weight weenie that is after the lightest bike ever, He just knows that it helps when the bike is lighter. In other words I don't think he has weighed it.

We will soon see if it makes a difference as he is competing this weekend in Barca,

fingers crossed, He deserves some recognition on an international level as he is an awesome rider.

Hmm, I'm not keen on the rear rim either.

8.3 you say? That's not bad going, what wheels has he got in there?

Rear hub is a king, front wheel be a tmaster hub which are pritty light and mint hubs. And rims are tensile/onza.

So simple and underated hubs them.

I can't see how it's 8.3kg though, it's not an especially light spec. Ah well, it's certainly light enough!

Im not to sure on it being 8.3 either, thats only 200g's heavier than Tarty Adam's xtp which has koxx hubs, dob rims and a lighter frame.

You two really need to come to terms with the fact that weight doesnt matter as much as you seem to think it does. Neither of you are world class riders, or even regular competition riders, so why do you mess around with super light parts so much?

Bike looks good though, could shave some weight if he stripped it and had it anodized though :o

I can't see how those 2 talking about light bikes had any effect on you? This is trials-forum where people talk about every aspect of riding and bikes. If they want to talk about weight and have super light bikes how is that skin off your nose? I'm not having a go at you I'm just saying if they find it enjoyable to talk about saving weight then why not let them? Why do they have to be competition riders to have light bikes? Even people who ride for fun can have light bikes.

I enjoy trying to loose weight from my bike, and it does matter, especially in comps and on natural. It interests me to see how far you can go with it, whilst still having a bike that rides really nicely. My bike doesn't have super light parts, I have a deng frame and mainly Monty parts, and my bike weighs just over 9kg. I enjoy talking about it and trying to think of new ways to loose weight, but I haven't drilled anything and I have a bashplate.

Actually, I am going to ride all the YMSA comps this year, and as many motorbike ones as I can get to.

It doesn't, I just think it's kinda pathetic that all they seem to care about is getting the lightest bike possible, and whenever anyone claims a weight of their bike they dispute it.

I did just say my bike was 9kg, which is far from the lightest bike possible.

And I'd like to know when I have disputed the weight for anyone elses bike, but I do think that 8.3kg is very low for the spec.

I try to make my bike as light as possible because I want to. As you said before, I'm not exactly a top class rider, so therefore I'm going to take every advantage I can to make my self better. If I can buy something which doesn't make my bike ride horrible, isn't going to break straight away and is light....what's wrong with that?

I believe I have improved a lot since I rode regular weight bikes, this may have been down to weight but I doubt it, however I guarantee that in some way having a light bike does help...even if it's just a mental thing.

The reason I "dispute" about how much a bike weighs is because just by looking at the spec of a bike I can tell that a certain weight isn't possible with certain parts, it's a fact! For example, on Joe's Onza it has a King back hub which weighs nearly double what a try-all does, and all the other parts are pretty average weight wise (frame is about 2kg's?). To get a bike to 8.3kg's you either need a lot of koxx/dob parts or a lot of holes. I may be completely wrong but it's just what I think, afterall this is a discussion forum.

Im proud of bike still riding nice (IMO) and being around 8.5kg's!

About the whole weight thing I would just say that it's each to their own really. No one is wrong/right.

but he doesn't have the weight of a freewheel and tryall f.w + tryall hub = 179+169=368, versus king + sprocket = 292 + 40=332. cough also the king probably = shorter spokes...

Alex, The frame is very light, Prob about 1.6 KG. I've heard as well that a king BMX set up is lighter then a freewheel setup. And since I last posted I have herd it from Joe himself that it does weigh that much. I'm not going to go into it much more on defending the weight but I really cant see why it should not be that weight. The thread was about the bike picture not about who are weight weenies.

From what I remembered from the onza news topic, most of the frames were around 2kg's, I admit I did not go and check the weight before posting in this topic. I aplogise for being so quick to dispute the weight of the bike. I'm just so used to seeing bikes with lots of mag/ti stuff for it to be that light. End of weight arguement.

Still think the bike looks really nice, anxious to see all the end details etc.
